all the STBB have sounded the same for years,  , now you guys all use the same samples handed out.

instead of wondering why soundcloud cant provide u billions of gigs of free uploading space anymore,

why not just quit making crappy beats ripping off/ copying whatever ST artist is hot at the time, stop pretending to battle.

and just make a whole album or EP?  everyone all diffrent,  and compete with other ppls "albums",

this one track on SC per person every week or every month for 20 heads all using the same samples is boring as fuck .

sorry.

It's like we know earth is not gonna be habitable in the future, so we set out to Mars for new life.

Hahahaha look here, little Mickey comes out to play...

Never checked one beatbattle, but claims all the tracks sound the same. Either you trippin, or you think you know shit without even checking it. Get out of your cave?

This group has some of most creative people i have ever seen in battles. That's why "most" of these beats are so different.

Of course you have to follow a few to find out.

I'd rather go through these beats and find some gems like NY ODUS, ROBOT ORCHESTRA, CONTROBUZ, PETE RANGE, JULIAN CONVEX , BREAKMASTER CYLINDER maybe ?

If you don't like this shit man than maybe hiphop is nothing for you... just sayin.

Who's to say we aren't making albums and do this for the fun?

On anther note, we are ripping off people by doing this.. but Kanye West doing Queen is allright with you?

On a more serious note, I love LowHiss 's suggestion. Keeping the flips in a personal network would also mean we could continue this legally.

Basically comes down to this. We're allowed to have a private library containing sampled material as long as we don't share the library with the rest of the world.

I wouldn't worry to much about Jr. Seems to be on a roll when it comes to shitting on other people's interests atm

Yes, the battles can get repetitive. That's actually the point, to seperate the weak from the strong and to empower the weak to work harder at becoming strong. Being repetitive does not negate the fact that they're a great place to learn, practice and most importantly network. Many o greats have started off in battles and used it for momentum and exposure. Dibiase, Jonwayne, Ta-Ku etc etc.

Even your main man HBSM found a beat for his latest album directly due to the beat battles: http://www.stonesthr...showtopic=26214

So please, stop shitting on people. It's getting more tired than the battles ever will.

Peace.

Back to the soundcloud thing. I've been travelling so missed the original discussion, but please kill the talk of P2P for this stuff. I can't think of anything that would kill the battles quicker IMO :)

IF soundcloud prevents us from contributing (which I doubt will happen anyway), I would suggest using Soundclick - used to use that all the time when I was dropping rhymes back in the day. Doesn't have in-line comments, but do have a place for comments, charts etc.

Or, speak to the cats who have that beat battles website which recently started using a self-contained web service for uploading/playing/ranking tracks. I'm sure someone has the URL...

Surprising what it takes for me to come back, first off Jr....says it all. And everyone said it all already.

secondly.......one or two of you on here are blatantly meant to set up something new to post shit on, none of this Arrgh what do we do now, it's simple do it yourself. All the sites are shit we need new stuff. It can not be hard to set up a site to hear something, and I know someone here knows exactlly what needs to be done. If the sound is 320kbps you've already shit on souncloud.

And Queen by Kanye Ha ha! no comeback to that!

Who's to say we aren't making albums and do this for the fun?

This group has some of most creative people i have ever seen in battles. That's why "most" of these beats are so different.

Of course you have to follow a few to find out.

On anther note, we are ripping off people by doing this.. but Kanye West doing Queen is allright with you?

what are u talking about?

i check almost all of them for the passed 10 years

thats why i was able to make a statement based on that info,

and i agree,

this board has some of the most creative ppl out there

which is why its sad to me that they are involved in such time wasting activities as making "beat battles"

with forced samples every fuckin week.

i mean dont you guys get sick of having rules and forced instructions on how to do your thing?

i for one will never read a 3 paragraphs of rules and instructions on how to make a "beat" for fun.

(let alone follow those rules),

i dont like rules of anykind, esp. injected into my creative process,

so maybe i will never understand the mindset of you guys that have been doing this STBB thing for years and years.

i guess im too old school, to each his own .

also,

i like how you put yourself up there with kanye,

are u mad he flipped queen because of freddy mecury or just mad cuz its kanye that did it?

what i meant by ripping off artists is seems like whenever someone new beatmaker wise shows up on ST everyone automatically wants to know what hardware he is using, what samples he flipped , what snare kit he is using, where he got his artwork etc etc  and then instantly everyone wants/trys to sound like that new guy, (example knwledge) he just dropped his album on ST, now everyone in here jockin his style.

i dont need to point fingers .

this has been goin on here ever since Madlib.

i guess what im trying to say is why does everyone on the STBB want to be like someone else?

what about secret processes? is nothing sacred anymore?

why "battle" ?

does this term itself not contradict the creative mindset you should be in to produce?

not certain why it bothers you so much? if you don't like it then do your own thing. seems like you are just trolling.

i personally like the challenge the rules create.

the biting part I somewhat agree with, and somewhat don't. everyone takes from someone...

Why don't we just use Instagram? Most the dudes around here only listen to 15 seconds of a beat before deciding anyway, it has comments and likes! :P #STBB

No need for 10 paragraphs ,It basically boils down to this: You think every beat sounds the same in the stbb and I don't. Nuff said.

i mean dont you guys get sick of having rules and forced instructions on how to do your thing?

i for one will never read a 3 paragraphs of rules and instructions on how to make a "beat" for fun.

Yes, we do ... but that doesn't mean it fucks up our work-ethic. If i don't like the rules that week, i will still work on a track regardless, honing my skills or keeping it for later. Or don't enter that week. I get what u'r saying but in the long run this isn't really an obstacle. I personally don't like rules that pins you down to make a certain style of music. I usually pass or enjoy the time just flipping the sample for my own.  What's to say you can't use a beat you started on for  beatbeattle can't en up in an E.P. or album of yours?

I'm old-school just like you, doesn't have anything to do with it. It's how you cope with the rules.

About biting, yes I've heard that too. No big deal man, every battle i been too been biters. Let em bite.

One more thing. You listened 10 years of STBB .. I've been doing STBB battles for 3  years now i reckon. How u gonna come off listening 10 years with 200 posts? You never joined or voted?

Yeah , I was comparing myself to Kanye West. Can't you see the resemblance?

Quick question.... and changing the subject....

Has anyone worked out how to listen to the STBB soundcloud group on IOS?

I'd love to be able to load the group up and listen to all the entries while driving to work, but If I try (both in Safari or Chrome), via my iPhone, but it just spins and spins and nothing loads. Individual soundcloud pages are fine. The iPhone Soundcloud app doesn't seem to access groups.

Anyone else figured this out?

If I remember correctly, I think it was the dude Montyshoewalker.
Think he won with that beat cuz it was so left field with the sample.
My memory sux, correct me if I'm wrong. Peace Grif
