Edit: the Rules & FAQ were updated April 2014. This thread will stay open for anyone to discuss ongoing moderation issues with the beat battles.

Tracks getting reposted to the top of the group over and over is annoying, but I don't know an effective way to discourage this.

Just call people out. Call them a cunt or a fuck or whatever you want. It's not something worth banning over, but tracks like that can be removed from the page just to be readded. If peeps let em know what's up then yeah theyll knock their shit off. We have a small community here in which no one should be stepping over anyone else in that aspect.

I think it should be midnight wherever you are but ST time would be ideal. If something is a whole day late then I say fuck em. We didn't grind shit out just to have some half a f*g get lazy on us and post on a thursday like a fucken momo

I say from most important to least, but all important nonetheless
  • If you battle you must vote... or else
  • Submit and vote by the appropriate deadline (whenever that is)
  • listen to the other submissions
  • post your beat not only on the souncloud group page but the STMB as well
  • don't be an asshole
  • follow the previous winner's criteria
  • don't repost your shit unless it's a completely new beat(b4 the deadline)
just a ruff draft

Yeah Ras thats looking a lot better, also a fresh batch of new mods that actually do the modding would really help, I practically held it down on my own last year then backed off as it it kind of ruined participating for me, Vote poll going up on time as well, Don't like rule 7 though if you made a wack beat tough, learn from it knuckle down and improve, otherwise we will end up with a waterfall effect, I could post a beat, think it's amazing, then you could post one right after me, and it shit's on mine, now it would be pretty crap of me to delete that beat then put another one up, that could go on for ever. But this is looking better already.Bit confused on number 4 as well.

Yeah rule 7 is bullshit scratch that. As far as rule 4 we get alotta folks that only post on the sc page that don't even have accounts here.

I would only choose a frequent submitter to the messageboard/sc page to add as a mod. Someone raspectable and clear minded. Seen mods get crazy with the bans other places on the web due to personal attacks and dramatic bullshit. But yeah we need a handful more that are more active than current mods.

I feel like we're writing up some kind of constitution.

I've been looking through the pages, and we have some submissions getting like 50 less plays than there are actual submissions. Who invited the cunts?? .

I'm not too sure if it has to be the one that started the page to do it or what cause I can't find the option. I kinda just woke up one morning with the responsibility and don't even know who gave me the job. But yeah I would check J0ndis.

edit: I messaged him. Waiting fi di reply

Good idea I also added sev, saadya, chopperman and joa . In order to edit the group ( delete tracks ) you have to switch over to classic mode.

i'm still technically a mod i think...but i go to school full-time so i don't really participate much in the Beat Battles.

however, if there is an ungodly amount of spam on the group page for any certain day/week/round, just hit me up guys-- i'd be glad to help clean up some of that stuff lol, that's why i asked for mod status to begin with back when i was regularly posting every week. this semester's wrapping up, so i may very well start being a regular once again...but yeah, just wanted to throw that out there for anyone who gets annoyed at the seemingly endless stream of spam that seems to get posted onto the page week after week...

I usually get around to it whenever I'm online. But I think at least one of us is on that page at some point in the day so it should be cool.

glad to see more housekeeping. last the rules were edited was ~1 year ago, but a constant contact between the battlers and 'the powers that be' is always a good thing.

and im also hyped that ST is paying more attention to what's going on over at the battles. perhaps something else is in the making??

Sounds all good to me, can we please add a clear hard stop on the time to post the new sample where anyone can just post it up after? I know its nice to pick the samples if you've won, but I live in Europe and work doing the weeks, my production time has been getting cut in half lately! Just a suggestion.

Dude can you add Lady Snowblood, as she is our only lady, also Vavoom, Hungryman, Sixfingers, Runme & Run Run, Fredson, El-R MUMA, Sam Cadet, Gis Sweden, need power by numbers, my bad if some already are, also could we make it so if 1st doesn't post the sample on time can 2nd then 3rd be ready with a back up, also, the quality, I'd like to see no MP3's, they're horrible sounding little buggers, and it's a pain converting. Wavs peeerlleasee.....

Lastly I think Jondis deserves a massive pat on the back, for firstly starting this whole soundcloud bizzle, that one idea has given so many of us a chance to learn, improve, and exceed personal expectations. It's a worldwide cause n effect on a massive positive scale. Just felt it's long over due this talented cat got the praise he deserves.

Also Bot who has to deal with us on mass, we're not easy to deal with, who is thats creative ha ha!!

It's always been a kinda general thing considering time zones and how lazy everyone is to check. The next runner up get's to choose if the winner doesn't show up within a few hours and the next and so on.

MellowYouth - there's always been the minimum amount of housekeeping. these beat battles were started by the community here and should always continue that way as much as possible. there could be something else in the making, but nothing to speak of yet.

Grifty-Rodriguez, jondis - admin status on the Soundcloud group not needed. I might have some suggestions for the group though, and I'll be in touch with jondis.

Another couple of questions:

Is JVox's Voting Thread Template still being used? If so, I can update this as well.

Who ran the STBB twitter, why did they quit, and is it needed?

i dont think ive ever used the voting thread template. i wanna say a lot of folks use the last weeks vote thread and 'copy/paste' it for the new one. the twitter page was run by tkurata and had asked me to run it at one point, but i never got around to getting the login & password and tkurata kinda disappeared afterwards :/

i have been running the winners blog for ~3.5 years now. which highlights the winning beats from 2010 to the current 2014. and i think chopperman just started a facebook group to make trophy-pics for the winners.
