I was kicking back this evening and just thought about if time affects the mood to create or not. For me, I love creating beats and working on new joints at night. preferably when it's real late, that's when i love working on some new ish! I wanted to see from you guys though; what time of day do you love working on music or when is it that you feel most in the zone? Early morning? Afternoon? Evening? Late Night?

I'm pretty much a night owl so most of my joints get made/rolled (*snicker*) between 11pm and 7am.

this is actually pretty cool lol. most of us seem to be night owls when it comes to working on new stuff. I had the strangest feeling about that though!

I make beats Now..... I dont look at the clock, time is relative to me, I tend to make softer more atmospheric stuff later in the day, but that's due to feeling more relaxed at the end of the day, best time really is an hour after you wake up, your ears are fresh , your brains fresh, and your ready to go, knock a beat out before lunchtime, you still got the rest of the day infront of you. I have to work it all around nightshifts and looking after my little girl, so that kind of forms where and when I can make a beat also.

Whenever I'm at home and I feel like it. Normally weekends or evenings but time is irrelevant to me. I require no more than 2 to 4 hours of sleep per day, Once or twice a week I don't sleep at all. I am always listening to music, but don't work on it until I have an idea/vison and want to make it come to life. Being blunted helps. I like a mindstate where I don't really care what I'm making, I just like to freely create and let a beat or song become what it is. Throughout the process I think, "what would I think of this song if one of my favorite artists had created it and I'm hearing it for the first time".

i start new beats all the time, like 2-4 per week...which is quite a bit for me considering i go to school full-time as well. but yeah, i got pretty much everything i need on my laptop, so i'll make beats at work, in between classes, on the bus, etc. my only problem is that i'll start, and sometimes basically finish an entire beat and then just let it sit in beat purgatory for months and months till i either a ) go back in someday and finish it; b ) go back in and completely start from scratch with same instruments/samples; c ) listen through it once till i realize why i stopped working on it and close it right back down again.

so a lot of the time, i'm cycling through shit i made months ago to see if i wanna work on one of those instead of starting anything new-- sometimes it works out, but usually it doesn't cause i still have unfinished beats that are from like September 2012 and December 2011 haha.

I had this gut feeling that a lot of cats were night owls! I guess that was natural since I'm sure a lot of us are either working, going to school, etc.

i work m-f at 6 A.M so i usually find myself working on shit from like 2pm to 6pm. i like waking up n the weekends though, turning the mp on and smokin' one and just start working till whenever. like ODK said, mind feels fresh early on in the morning. sometimes ill chop something up the night before and not come up with anything i like but the next morning hear tons of shit i didn't the night before.

First thing in the morning is my preference because that's when creativity is at its highest. And I rise with the sun so I also like to study or draw as soon as I wake up to get myself in a cypher and then start working on some shit. hop back and forth throughout the day and eventually get a song or two wrapped up by the end of the night.

Anytime really. I work a graveyard shift now Monday through Friday so its harder for me to do the middle of the night during the week. But if I'm ever sleeping and then wake up at a weird ass time like 3:00 am on the weekend then I love to go work on beats.

Really late night. I usually have a hard time sleeping and something inside of me wants to get up and just make music all night. Get some cookies and water, and I'm on for the night.

LOL I wish I had that drive to be honest! I love making beats and working on my sound, but sometimes you just catch yourself wrapped up in so many things. I've been on top of it a lot more though since my semester is finished. All night beat making! :)
