Ahh you know what you've just raised, you know when you and a really good mate say something at the same time and your tuned in, this can happen with people you have never met, it can happen with creative Ideas, I totally forgot about these lyrics I had written years ago, I then got into listening to Slug with Atmosphere, weird shit happened I had literally written the same lyrics, I'd never met him and it was a year before I heard him.
OK so maybe I got a little lost here but what does Flying Lotus have to do with drum'n'bass? Can't think of any of his music that comes close to it. Haven't listened to loads of d'n'b either but I can't pick many of his production techniques that you'd hear with some of the big names like Roni Size or Goldie...
As cool as ODK's mate sounds by doing hip hop with slowed down d'n'b in 99, slowed down d'n'b with hip hop rhythms had been done a few years prior by groups like Techno Animal. Check this at the 5:30 mark, it was published in '96. Pretty sure Scorn & TA had been doing stuff like this earlier too.
But that doesn't mean that ODK's mate was biting 'cause it's not like Techno Animal were big or part of a poplular scene. Chances are both experimented & came to the same conclusion: slowed d'n'b rules.
Oh yeah, the inventor of the wobble was the dude/dudette that designed the low frequency oscillator & hooked it up to their low pass filter.
What this is called is being on the same wavelength, you get it everywhere, to me Idea's are like a shelf full of baked bean cans, it just depends if you pick the can up on your own, or someone else's reaches for the same can (Idea). This shows we are all connected one way or another.
The reference between Flylo and DnB, is basically some of the more dancey type of stuff he does, growly bass'es, distorted sounds, prob a bit more techno orientated thinking about some of sounds, he needs to leave it, thats what I mean about sticking to what he's good at.You won't hear it within Goldie or Roni Size, they're both old school Jungle heads, and use warmer Jazzy influences. The way Roni Sizes works is standing in a club taking note and watching peoples movements what makes them all go at the same time, I've stood next to him in a night club and watched him watching then had a chat about his little notebook with the master plan for making bangers for the club.
I kind of meant these sounds
