I think it was due to a misinterpretation of your earlier post...
At first I also thought you meant Saint posted his beat too late... as opposed to voted too late (for Laze)
I.m.o... it's a legit win Mellow... enjoy it :)

lmao is this battle serious? EDM week? Is Steve Aoki trolling the STBB now

wtf has this shit come to. this is a beat battle. its ok to be grimy, all the time. we dont have to switch it up to fucking EDM music just to feel like we are "more musical", because most EDM music kinda sucks.

this is what happens when the cats who bring real dope to the battles dont battle. but its a cycle. cuz cats post up wack ass records and wack ass themes and then the killers who WANNA do it see this and are like "um, nvm". and then it continues with the same 10 people voting for the same 10 people, etc

even the word EDM makes me cringe. Upload a sample, and whoever has the dopest, grimiest most out there flip of it should win. period. dont tell us that we gotta make "EDM". I dont want mwfckas to google "Sev Seveer EDM". that is my worst damn nightmare to come up in a search query with the clowns who are making millions off of drugged up coke whores who are on too much molly to realize that their favorite DJ is not even DJing, but actually dressed in a mouse suit crowd surfing. or throwing cakes at people. doing everything in general except having turntable skills.

The rules are also pretty conflicting, it's "EDM Week" yet we're told we can make "non-standard hip-hop and any electronic genre". EDM is an umbrella genre (I guess you can call it that) but not one that's so broad that you can fit "non-standard hip-hop and any electronic genre" under it. If you're gonna force a genre on us, at least be clear about it.

Also what's with the sample? EDM isn't completely devoid of samples, sure, but a nice big chunk of what you can call EDM is pretty much sample free. I know it's a staple of the beat battles or whatever but it just seems forced. Especially with the Eddie Harris sample.

To me it looks like we're stretching this whole 'electronic' thing to "feel like we are 'more musical'" like Sev said. I have nothing against EDM or electronic music (which I actually love) or anyone participating, but this is kinda dumb.

Just kinda.

I for one was happy to tackle the challenge of making a dark sci-fi Jungle tune from that one old jazz sample. Thanks for the challenge Mellow.

actually, i kinda agree with Primate on this one...i've tried making an entry for this week, but the only samples i could pull from the source material seem very forced and contrived in my reinterpretation of it-- i'd rather just not participate this week and work on what i have going so far without having to use the sample, i got a pretty cool house track going that might be ruined by the random sax chops i tried throwing on top of the mix. i think EDM week was a very creative and noble idea, but it's also pretty vague about what type of genre/subgenre we're supposed to be working in...and this particular sample is not very conducive to dance music, idc what anyone says lol.

Well I just googled Sev Seveer EDM, and something about the police pops up, I always thought EDM is it's own sub genre that can't work out what it is because it uses every sound possible from any dance genre but not always in a good way, heres my Drum N Bass thing I did. The positives of this week is everyone will probably struggle a bit, and end up holding back that heater they want to make until next saturday, then hopefully we will get some phat arse hiphop heaters banging around.

The only thing I can say to Sev Seveer:
The first EDM in RAP/HIPHOP: Afrika Bambaataa & Soul Sonic Force with "Planet Rock". Remember that?

The facts:
- Afrika Bambaataa sampled from Kraftwerk "Trans-Europe Express" for the masterhit "Planet Rock".
- Kraftwerk literally created the foundation for what's now called EDM!

I agree with you when it comes to that commercialised-every-dj-can-mix-and-make-a-hit-and-ALL-(yeaa-right!?!)-the-dumb-bitches-suck-his-dick-bullshit.

But you must respect the winner's (Laze., oeps i mean Mellow Youth) choice(s)!

Without further ado, my entry:

By the way, EDM is not a word or an acronym, it's just a abbreviation. So "EDM Music" is like saying "Electronic Dance Music Music"
(had to get that off my chest).

ok ok. I'll let you pass on the weak and not too dirty drum and bass track like Kuyt. ODK nailed that shit.
Joa that vid was kind of funny. JOa I do but no beats of my own on there. I could loop drum and bass all day, though.

as i already said, it was only to clear up things because, due to an uncomprehension, some people were thinking about a tie between mellow and saint =) i'm not in search for compliments or bravos, Mellow is the winner and i'm totally ok with it, but Saint's was simply out of topic and i'm sure he's the first to understand this!
by the way, "como se" is spanish.

What you do not speak Latin, Signiore giallorossi? You cannot possibly know how funny you sound to an American ear. FYI.
