...Its not.... for those needing help contextualing this nonsensical venture read (J) Zones latest cue point article lambasting TLC for their crowd-funded project. The Big timers want to benefit from small-time marketing schema is all...

edit: for me credibility should inevitably be questioned when the only positive review is coming from Forbes...

.. I haven't read the article, but you bring up that it blasts TLC for crowd funding thier latest album. De La Soul have done exactly just that. Any thoughts? I see no reason why crowd funding a record should be an issue to credibility. These are new times. The record industry ain't what it used to be.

...well I agree with you...but Zone's argument is that this is also a mechanism for them to take advantage of ulterior funding sources that negatively correlates with the amount of effort put into said work and undermines true proponents of an independent scene. De La soul's example is also slightly different because they are conceptually doing something different to make the crowd-funded project more unique and "fan"-oriented. TLC are just releasing their atypical schlock. I think maybe he's a bit draconian but I agree it would be an unfortunate trend if more artists used this method to peddle their mediocrity...of course the new TLC album could also actually be good....

So this elderly black man was struck by another car. During which he suffered a stroke. He was slow to respond to police directives and was subsequently given a healthy does if pepper spray, dragged from his car, in which it ran over his foot.

did he actually self-censor himself saying the word "nigga"?

lol, so in other words he's brave enough to write it down as part of his try-hardy verse but too much of a bitch to own up to it in public?

fuck him

strangely enough  the kid's some weird feminist child prodigy, can't find it but he wrote some long pro-women's rights essay.

i'm surprised, because you'd think those sorts of circles would consider that language "problematic"...

i'm not a feminist and even i think it's a bit much haha.

does he get a 'pass' because his mom slept with Snoop Dogg once or something?

.nah man, you know how it is. few years ago there was a really weird pressure of like, liberals telling people to stop saying the n-word, "retard," "autistic" "gay" etc, so I think out of that came a response from the underground hip-hop scene (liberal white dudes) who felt like "I've read the Autobiography of Malcolm X, I can come up with an artistic reason to say it"

I was watching blade runner last night, and the opening scene has Harrison Ford say it, I felt uncomfortable

White and black intersect well on these forums. It's all egalitarian.

Society will forever remain racist. Rich black men tend to end up sad puppets for evil white men.

Were you really uncomfortable with Ford saying that? I mean, in the scene he's criticising another cop who used to call black people that, isn't it 'allowed' (for want of a better word) when you're quoting someone or it's in the title of something or whatever?
