^^^LOL!
True Story... I was born and raised in Houston, TX and always hated country music with a passion, until I started digging for vinyl over 10 years ago. When I bought crates of discounted, unknown records, I had to listen to every bit before selling any unwanted records back to the thrift stores. You learn a lot about music history when your digging through dead people's music collections of yesterday.

Most people don't really know what folk music is because it's such a broad term and sound. Folk was first used to describe traditional songs that were of unknown origin, only passed down from singing them. So pretty much, old folk is the great grand dad of all music that survives today. When it came to North America, it slowly became country which had it's roots in many different lands across the globe. This music meshed the Irish fiddle, the German derived dulcimer, the Italian mandolin, the Spanish guitar, and the West African banjo. Next you can get into the mix ups of who stole what from who... but even early country had african flavor considering that's where the primitive banjo originates. Next came blues and jazz, then rock and you know the rest...

Half the songs Ray Charles sang were country songs, even though he's more known for the blues.

Early badasses on the guitar like Lightnin' Hopkins were known for playing "Country Blues" or "Folk Blues".

I shouldn't even have to say anything, the man's intitial's are JC.

You could definitely make a beat out of the rhythm in this song.

Then from the folk revival of the 60's on up..

Some modern folk..

Plenty of choices... Of course, everyone's got their own tastes and all of them might not make for Hip Hop bangers.. but why you always trying to make bangers? Like you've heard heard a ballad or sad song in Hip Hop?

Even Buck 65 successfully fused country and Hip Hip years ago.

Anyways, the truth is there is good and bad music in every genre, but the good music, with heart and originality will always transcend genres and generations. My late night soliloquy is over. Please don't shoot the messager. ;) (Exits stage left)

Im not the only one with that problem. Next week I will be skiing. Have a nice STBB 317!!!! Wanted to do something soft, but... Wanted to take part, but... :D

I'm unable to delete any tracks from the group right now because this network will only allow the new Soundcloud. There are a few that have to go

Personally I appreciate the country / folk sampling rule. Not because I listen to much country or folk music, but I like how it gives a fresh theme to the "battle" (cue the Chris Rock sound bite, "I AIN'T FIGHTIN'!")...anyhoo, here ya go.
Peace family.

i'm sorry to those who don't like the rules or the sample for that matter, but in my opinion you can learn a lot from working with samples you don't usually work with.

Maybe it won't end up being your favorite beat, but maybe you'll learn some new tricks, or at least have som fun, when you're making it:)

Here's my beat anyway:

Huge difference between "country" and "folk". HipHop is folk music. Eskimo chants are folk music. German beer drinking music is folk music. So, I stuck with the country/western vibe. Weird and Experimental results.

oh well been busy don't think i'm going to get any thing done in the next 40 minuets, should be in nexts weeks battle
