The setup with the new addition. I ended up getting the Yamaha DTExplorer kit instead of the Alesis due to the shop fucking up and not having it in stock etc. etc. (long story) But I am very happy with the Yamaha.

I like how you printed a piece of paper to remind you to "enjoy the process", kind of strange but intriguing

DEE SERIOUSLY HERE.... your furniture don't match, theres an interior designers nightmare happening in that room, one unit is some nice modern light walnut colour, then you got some dark as shit wood on the other....

on a serious note... thats the shit, drum machine and turntable under the window so you can daydream away whilst simultaneously building. word.

To be honest the Yamaha I only used as a MIDI controller now. The Novation Supernova is my main hardware synth. Although I'm using that less nowadays too. Using the ES2 inside Logic Studio a lot.
So yeah Logic is my DAW.

Edit: Just realised you were talkin' about the DT Xplorer... I thought you were talkin about the AN1X which is the keyboard there...

I like how you printed a piece of paper to remind you to "enjoy the process", kind of strange but intriguing

 Yeah...Sometimes I get frustrated with a beat or just with making music in general so it's just there to remind me to 'enjoy the process' more and not focus too much on the end result.

I'm using reason+recycle too, what do you 2 use soundforge for? is it a better sampling programme than recycle?

when i start out making a beat i'll take the song into soundforge to cut out the sections i want to use. So if i have a loop i'll then slice it in recycle [recycle isn't an audio editor] and trigger the cuts in reason

If i have a two bar loop/beat in reason increasingly i'll export the audio to wav files, muting different channels so i have files like Xwithbass, Xnobass, Xnodrums, Xdrums, XpartB and then use soundforge as a sequencer. Just can't be arsed with the reason seqencer - dots and tracks, prefer to see the waveform - unless i'm using reverb or delay at the end of the loop (so it carries back into the first bar), even then i'll often double up the loop in R and still use the SF method

"is it a better sampling programme than recycle?" - it's just completely different, recycle would replace SF if you could actually edit the source in it. i'd say SF is better thought out and quicker to use than Recycle as a product

I also use SF to extract individual drums from breaks etc, which it does pretty much automatically, for use in Redrum. if you cut up a break in recycle you can still load the individual cuts in redrum. Need to recycle all my breaks. but i like to have snare, tom, kicks etc in separate folders

^ No problem, Im trying to get my set up up and running..hopefully I can do that this summer...

I have my turntables and monitor, and records of course..only thing I need is 2 cartriges, so I have to make my way to Sam Ash to pick some up. I already know which ones, I just have to get them. Other than that..I just need a table for the turntables, and then Im set..as far as DJing..then I have to get my MPC...which shouldnt be long either.

But yea, nice set up man. Throw some beats up, or do you already have your work out?
