Found this in the basement of one of my college's old building. Found a stash of 400+ vinyls as well.

My first record player. Luckily the headphone jack works and it easily connects to my interface. :D

http://youtu.be/FcIIpkKrkvM

honestly... who cares if you are bedroom producer or not? I never understood that concept. What seperates a bedroom producer from a producer who has his own studio? I work both in a studio I made in my room and also a studio that houses more than $5 million worth of equipment alone, and I can tell you that the shit i make in a professional studio sounds the same as in my bedroom with a humble set-up consisting of a MPC a turntable and a few records. I think people should be more focused on what they're actually making instead of bragging if you have your own "professional studio". And from what I see in your video you are a bedroom producer, it may be a space rented out separately, but it's very basic and features no acoustic design and definitely not top of the line equipment, not to put down what you have but look around at other studios and yours pales in comparison to what they offer. That room in your video seems like a bedroom to me. If you don't have floating floors, acoustic architecture, efficient placement of diffusers and acoustic foam, reinforced soundproof steel doors, a well known console worth at least $250,000 or more, etc. then you do not own a professional studio, sorry to say.

Peace DJ Tav!k,

You're totally missing the inner context of the jokes and the point of the video you watched.

Basically an obsessive blogger who pretty much stalks me, wrote another one of his hack piece about me and made false claims about my being a "A old never was washed up bedroom producer that just came out of thin air with his laptop". He was misinforming his audience about me, a guy who grew up working in NYC's finest studios like Brooklyn Sound Lab, Unique Recordings, Power Play, Ian North Studios, Sigma Sound, Quad Studios, AG Recording Studios, Kingston Studio and Hit Factory just to name a few.

Posted Image

I'm not from the "MP3 generation" of "Bedroom Producers" as he stated, all those records you see on my home studio's wall dating as far back as the 80's were not made in a bedroom. Artists who liked my work hired me to produce or remix their records and after my fees were negotiated the label assigned me a recording budget and I had to spend as little as $225.00 per hour plus the $60.00 to $80.00 per hour engineer's fee to get those records done and then I had to take those records to mastering studios that cost $150 per hour with engineers like Herb "Pump" Powers, Howie Weinberg, and Calton Blatt who cost $70-80 per hour before I turned them in to the label.

Posted Image

In order to make a record in those days, it took more money and time than it does today and if you didn't have the label's budget behind you, you couldn't make a record. You can't do that on thin air. Thanks to digital technology the cost of making a record has decreased dramatically and the floodgates have opened to the beatmaker community, and you now have a lot of beatmakers calling themselves producers but they don't know how to produce a record and in many cases don't know the difference between a record and a song let alone a beatmaker and a producer.

Posted Image

My main point while poking fun at that blogger was really to expose his gross ignorance to his audience. He attempted to paint a very untrue picture of me and my career as a record producer and I made fun of him while disproving his false claims, a sort of mocking his mockery of sorts.

Now as for your talk about millions dollars of gear and acoustic treatments and the such, you're spot on right about me not investing in such things for my home studio and as someone who grew up in such studios you described, It's not an issue for me because it all comes down to my nearly three decades of experience and production skills. Give me a just a mic and a tape recorder and I'll shit all over the perception of any Johnny Come Lately.

None of that what you said about professional studios impresses me, and let's be clear I say this with no malicious intent, which is why I'm taking the time to share my perspective with you, it's just that I'm way past all of that. I've been there, done and still live that. To me a record in this day and age comes down to the end result of the music, which was the other point of my video hence my making fun of the entire situation.

Posted Image

If the production value of the music does not retain quality within the record then it's just another beat or another song. I don't make songs for bloggers to give away, I make records for DJs to spin on their radio mix shows because I also grew up in the industry doing radio and that's what I care about and if a blogger happen to pick up on that and support it, then cool. But I'm not out here chasing these blogs or trying to get on them like I see so many cats doing today, it's just pointless to me. Which is why I can laugh at any smug cat throwing unnecessary darts and totally missing me as their target.

Posted Image

In the year of 2011 my single "The Champ is Here" went #1 on the college and mix show radio charts and this year of 2012 every one of my singles and remixes that were released charted within the top 10 of those charts...... all of these records came out of the very studio you're denigrating which is located in my den (not my bedroom) from my mixing console, outboard gear, samplers, tape machines and software. If you ask me that's not a bad achievement for an "old never was washed up bedroom producer that just came out of thin air with his laptop". ;)
