Thirsty!!!!
That's good tho! More money to tha Dukes. Hopefully that money can fund an intrumental album full of unheard material.

Definitely.

If you click on the number of bids on the DillaFoundation eBay profile, you'll see orders of 10 and 20 records each. Wonder what joints they came up on.

I'm thinking about framing this recod right out of its packaging w/o playing it; I'm curious as to whether or not you guys will dare put a needle to the records from the Dilla collection you're buying...

I shelled out $30, I'm listening to it.

Haha! I also found these comments from questlove back in 06:

"of course "a film called pimp" was funky....but the magic was in the bill summers interlude that followed that i saw you freak. "

"The Bill Summers flip you gave us for Com's "Pimp" song was sooooo what the doctor ordered...and when i told you "this is too good to waste for just a 23 second interlude"....you laughed and shrugged like..."oh i got others" touche nigga....you did. "

http://www.myspace.c...e/blog/86896414

I think it's used on that baggage handlers joint too (raekwon) could be wrong though.

Geeked.

He used the 'pimp' interlude for the Macy Gray remix as well.

Such an honor to own a piece of this mans collection, wow!!

This is what I received with my order: http://www.discogs.c...release/3521923

I'm not sure if this record was used to sample from or if it inspired any of his creations though...I'm going to research it, help me out if you can!

I did come up with this for other artists though:http://www.whosample...ty%20Alexander/

The New Birth - It's Been A Long Time

As far as I can tell, Dilla hasnt used anything from this record (that I know of) but he did use a sample from one of The New Birth's later albums for a beat on his Beat CD '05 #2 (Track 16 on that beat tape).

A whole lot of other people have sampled from this record though... Tribe, Ice Cube, Gravediggaz, Fat Joe, Monsta Island Czars, AZ, Black Sheep, and a few others.

Pretty cool soul/funk record.

Peace!

Dunno if Dilla Dawg used this one, but it's cool he sampled John Renbourn for "Make'em NV."

Someone received this Gap Mangione record from the Dilla collection?! That's probably the highest valued record out of his collection by virtue of the samples derived from it. $360 for any record is steep but if I could ever pay that much for a record, I'd definitely consider this album.

The sample for Mad Skillz - The Jam
Sample for bustas Woo ha
Also 1st Down - No place to go (went for 185)

Haven't heard any word on that since they first went up for sale, you can still get one on eBay (from the foundation) so I'm guessing when they have all sold we may get some info regarding a database.

Also this dropped a few days ago, bit more insight about the records which were found with interviews from the dude who came across Dillas vinyls and also ma dukes.
