I only saw Dark Knight a few times and Lorax with my daughter.

I definitely have always enjoyed your recommendations so I'll make sure to check most of these out, especially Life of Pi since I read that back in high school. Our Contemporary Literature teacher would always show us a movie after we completed a book. If the book itself hadn't been adapted he would pick something with very similar themes or a movie of a book by the same author. After we read Pi he played us The Usual Suspects.

I've been recommended Skyfall by quite a few people, will have to check it out soon.

Also I forgot to mention that the although the movies didn't work for me as a whole, Lincoln and The Master by far have the best acting for a movie in 2012.

Argo would definetely be up there, but I don't think I've watched 10 new movies this year.

Out of that list I've only seen The Art of Rap. I was wondering why noone mentioned it on these boards before now. Sorry to say but I think Ice's documentary could have been way better. Got nothing on Beats, Rhymes and Life. Might also add that Skyfall was pretty average too, in my humble opinion.

The one flick I'm looking forward to checking out is Samsara by Ron Fricke, who did Baraka.

And what about The Man With the Iron Fists? Watched it with my lady and she was like "why they playing hip hop in a kungfu movie?" Good soundtrack backing some old fashioned martial arts. Bound to appeal to some of y'all.

This discouraged me from watching AOR even more because I was not that pleased with Mike Rap's Tribe movie.

a lot of great movies this year but Life of Pi has to take the cake as far as story and effects. That ending... DAMN!
