i wonder what the delay's been on the madlib / karriem riggins album. it's still one of, if not the, most anticipated albums on Stones Throw. i have enjoyed all the karriem riggins tracks and the couple of 12" supreme team vinyl's that came out (been some years now tho... lol)

what's the latest on the project? like a for real update?

and the karriem riggins Alone / Together is the joint.

I'm good with the Alone Together album. I might pick up the two LPs, but I bought the mp3s in the mean time. Good album and definitly underrated.

And no idea about a real Supreme Team album. I gotta listen to the Volta Por Cima joint or whatever it was called. My copy of Hella International is collecting dust >_>

I have a hunch the issue with the Supreme Team album is a contractual one.
I do not believe that the Madlib/Egon departure from ST was as smooth as it has been noted.
Read this:
http://revivalist.ok...ntinuum-part-i/

If you look at the ST catalog since Aloe Blacc's Good Things there are no Madlib releases (excluding Madlib production on other artist albums).
This is the last album Egon worked on for ST.

There probably won't be a Supreme Team release on ST.
If there is ever an album, it will be on Medicine Show or a TBA label.

This is my speculation.

thx for posting that interview. egon is extremely interesting and well-spoken and well-versed in music in my opinion. if there is a part 2 of this out there, i'd like to read that next installment..

I think I remember JJ saying once that they haven't even made much music besides what has already been released. So if anything that is the biggest reason for the delay...

I thought Egon and Madlib's last ST albums were 'Miles Away' & 'Slave Riot'? Unless you aren't counting Madlibs jazz aliases.

for people that heard "City" & "Dado Music" those snippets are fucking heat
Dado Music is over Riggin's "daOOOOOH!!" beat

I saw from one of the recent interview's he mentioned that he has to talk to Madlib to plan the release or something..

couldn't find exact one but found one from a few days ago

"Where are you going now? What’s up next, and what collaborations or styles do you still want to explore?

I want to do everything. I want to do rock. I have a straight-ahead jazz album sitting here that’s ready to come out. I have half a rap album that I’m doing. It’s all timing, let this one breathe and let people connect to it. Then I’ll see what comes next. I know God will lead me in the right direction.

With Madlib, I’ve got about nine or ten albums of… I don’t want to call it 'jazz.' But it’s really interesting music. Hopefully some of that will come out soon. A couple tracks came out on his record Yesterday’s Universe. And hopefully we’ll get back on the Supreme Team, where we’re both rapping. I’m also doing a project with Common in the near future. Using a lot of live musicians, incorporating some machine work, just mixing it up."

Why does he have to hope his music will be released? What I'd do to know the process of how a record is released these days. Just wondering what holds projects like this and others back.

Mostly the fact that there isn't anything recorded...

I think it's just the fact that Riggins has trouble being able to put out records and is touring most of the time which doesn't help
it took ST over a year to put out Alone Together after it was turned in...

I imagine The Madlib having control over all of the "jazz" material since its under his yesterday's universe umbrella. I'm not trying to grow old waitin on some new Jabari Masamba especially if its already done.

K. Riggs has been saying for years that The Madlib and him supposedly have tons of stuff recorded. A couple years ago when the Supreme Team hype was huge here on the boards JJ even said himself that they really haven't recorded much more than what we have already heard under the Supreme Team banner. I'll go ahead and assume the same thing for all they jazz stuff they claim to have as well. Years of waiting around have made me salty. I like the old Jay-Z adage 'We don't believe you! You need more people!'.

on the bigger projects---- it's cool to let them marinate.. but i'd encourage Karriem to drop a 7 or 8 song EP .... not just one... a few of them..... with rhymes on like half of the joint, and a few beats on the other half. Karriem needs to keep that buzz and momentum up. showcase them rhymes. you got soundcloud and bandcamp. folks need to be more up on his shit. 2013 isnt the time to hold back. i'm a fan of a lot of different artists and styles, and karriem is somebody who i root for. keep that independent buzz afloat with the resources we have available, give the fans some shit to roll to while anticipating that next "larger scale" project.

I know Madlib had a crazy run with the Medicine Show, but I wish Stones Throw would simply drop an EP with the Supreme Team or anything.

The Karriem Riggins Alone Together album is crazy and overlooked.

I wouldn't say that it's crazy even though I like the album... Cosmogramma was crazy.
Once he forms more of his own sound I think he could gain more attention outside the dilla fanatic circle.
