any of my fellow Denver-based brethren gearing to check this out????
i'm probably gonna go see it either way, but it would be cool to run into some of my internet family from STMB while there.

Did he really not make any appearance? That'd be a shame if not.

My question is when the hell does everyone else get to see this thing already? Been waiting forever lol

Naw man, Kayne is the last dude you want speaking on ST. Every scene with Yeezy is so cringe worthy; especially the one where he tries his damnedest to shed a tear whilst speaking on Dilla then just tells a terrible joke 'Its like good pussy...'

YUCK, is he seriously this retarded in his portion? God I hate Kanye and the people who make him popular/famous <_<

As far as Tyler goes, I will give them a bit more credit talking to him. Seems like him and a lot of the OF kids were big ST fans like everyone here, I haven't seen doc but I imagine they maybe talk on the influence ST has on the newer/younger generation of rap music.

Edit: But I will say, it would be shitty if the can get these people in the doc to talk about ST but not Egon, Wildchild (is he here?), Dudley/Declaime, and others (I haven't seen yet, but do they talk to people like guilty, aloe, kazi, etc people?). Would be pretty lame if the documentary is just about Madlib, Dilla, and whatever new ST people are here now.

You basically just described the movie in a nutshell, and I'm not being facetious. No Egon. No Dudley. No Wildchild. No Romes. No Oh No. Maybe a split second of Guilty's face.

The movie is broken up into chapters. The early history of Wolf/Charizma. ST's beginning. The Madlib. Dilla. Then post Dilla weirdness (Gary Wilson, JP, et al). Then credits.

The doc does get props for having early archival photos of Captain Funkaho while in High School and for having Grand The Visitor do a quick interview segment.

If you haven't seen that Wildchild doc from like a decade ago I highly recommend that!

Damn! While looking for that link I just found out the same dudes who made that doc did this one on Dudley as well:

Blah, that's too bad. I've heard of those docs you posted but never watched, thanks for throwing those here!

So not even MED, Roc C, Oh No, or the other Oxnard folks? That's sucks, would figure that could have been a chapter of it's own "Oxnard"

Edit: Also, did J Rocc make an appearance?

Yeah Jason Jackson is definitely in it. I'm pretty sure MED appears as well, briefly. Other than that none of those other cats are even mentioned. The film makes it seem as if Lootpack helped ST blow. Then Madvillian and Jaylib came out. Dilla died. The Madlib stopped rapping. PBW signs a bunch of weirdos who have no connection to rap music. Mayer and Aloe got 'too big' for ST. Some Dam-Funk music plays. Snoop Dogg shows up. Then the credits roll.

I'm sure for the average listener of music the movie is pretty cool. For serious heads who have logins to STMB its still very good, just lacking in a lot of departments. Oh...and there is waaaaaaaaay to much screen time given to Kayne.

It's too bad ST fans didn't make the film. Sounds like the film makers just met PBW and he gave them the rundown on what he wants to describe as ST's history. Oh well, regret throwing money at the Kickstarter though.

Why is Kanye even in this movie besides pretending to cry about Dilla/making shitty jokes?

Also, my guess is that J Rocc is only included to talk about Dilla/Jaylib times?

i'm pretty sure Oh No was in there for a second if i remember correctly, Sunny. Jonwayne had a little section as well at the beginning...
oh yeah, and Gary Wilson had way more screen time than Jeff Jank, Homeboy Sandman and Karriem Riggins.

It must have been a huge falling out...even though I've seen Dudley and Georgia Anne in the same room as Wolf since the departure, I can't say the same about Egon. It isn't that I want bad blood to continue but I'd just like to know what happened instead of it being swept under the rug. Those guys helped to make stones throw what it is today too.

Does the film do a good job at explaining why we've seen the changes in direction? It seems like a lot is shrouded in mystery. Maybe for good reason?

For a record label that's promoted gritty, dusty, left field music they sure do present a clean image.

I'll give the film a try when it comes to Ohio.

Wolf felt abandoned by Egon when he helped Madlib start his label and cut him out of the loop. Imagine it like this. You have a girlfriend who you love, and in comparison to how you treated all of your previous girlfriends, you were caring and nurturing to this girl. But then all of a sudden your best friend comes in and gives her the keys to his apartment, car she always wanted, and puts a fancy ring on her finger. Everything you could have provided to her but were too slow to make the move, to selfish to see what she wanted and deserved. Until she left you...

An analogy for Dudley would be like that girl who is good friends with your girlfriend who is admittedly hot headed but you think is a bi-polar psycho because of that one night when she got way too drunk and accused you of being a racist scum bag who cheats on his girlfriend.

Yeah, if Aloe's comments are to be believed it seems like PBW might have been the one who pushed some of these people away by not releasing stuff.

Also, why does ST hate the northwest :(
No showings in Portland or Seattle, lame

Labels don't make tour schedules man. You must have some terrible promoters up there. Those are the people to blame.

Kind of, but more to the effect of saying Wolf treated Madlib like a bitch who can't think for himself.

The comparison is clearly off base from reality. I was more trying to correlate my opinion of the similar feelings felt between what happen and the analogy. Its a loose connection to the reality of things, and most importantly, my opinion on the situation of wolf holding resentments toward those people.

I mean no disrespect to any of the names mentioned, and if that is hard to believe then now you know why I usually keep my opinion to myself.
