I don't think I have ever been this sad about a musician dying before (I was introduced to Dilla's work after his passing...). I had also been under the impression that his cancer treatment was working, so I was incredibly surprised to hear this news this morning. If it wasn't for the fucking cancer I swear these dudes would still be rocking it till they are old grandpas.

RIP MCA

So sad right now. But I rejoice in knowing that the man is free from this world and his spirit is soaring.

He was the illest. Had a great voice.

I always rember hearing about him drop liquid acid straight into his eyes, then hitting the double black diamond ski slopes, in the pauls boutique era.

Can cancer please fuck off.

MCA was my favourite Beastie Boy, I'm not a huge fan but you can't argue against their place in modern music, they created their own universe which was a fusion of so many influences and on the way they changed the landscape, not least with Paul's Boutique an iconic record that effected how people have approached making hip hop records, and other genres like trip hop, since.
