This is proof that a good emcee sounds better over good production. I'm loving the fact that dude chose '93 Till Infinity ... shows me he's in tune to real hip-hop (if that's such a thing nowadays).

just listened to 2014 Forest Hills Drive......

it's a pretty good album.

there's definitely more that i like about it than dislike -- and the first like 5 tracks are amazing.

it sorta veers off course midway through, and never really picks itself back up, but i still think the back half has a few good tracks.

there's also some shit that i'm not really feeling though, especially the 14-minute outro track, where the last ten minutes are spent rambling about people he wants to thank and all sorts of other bullshit...but for the most part it's a good album.

i'm excited to see a potential Kendrick/Cole collab in the near future, if not an all-out K/C/Flying Lotus thing bubbling up eventually.  the production on this sounds very Beat-Scene inspired, but the tracks are still just not at all willing to take any weird detours or anything that would make it sound legitimately interesting.  overall, i like it though; glad to see Cole hasn't fallen off like i assumed he did years and years and years ago when "Lights Please" and all that other shit from his mixtapes started gaining momentum.

Yeah, Cole is one of Kendrick's favorite people in the scene. It'll happen more and more. I personally am head over heels no homo in love with this album. The promotion, attitude, beats and lyrics are definitely some of the rawest shit as far as more mainstream hip hop goes. Also, that NC pride, son.

J. Cole dropped a decent album, a little boring sometimes. But i liked it.

Will i get banned fom the message boards if i say: fuck kendrick lamar.

He did a couple good songs. But the hype with good kid maad city was way to big. I didn't like the album and i don't like the other shit either.

did you guys hear the new untitled Kendrick Lamar track on Colbert?????

it sounds like this new project might live up to the standards set by the last one, if not surpassing it (that swing is the craziest i've heard on ANY mainstream hip-hop release in the past like ten years)...and i think Thundercat and his group might have been there too.
