Nice digs yo !

Thanks fam! Already got like 3 beats off that soundtrack record, dope and dirt cheap on discogs, recommended cop.

I had never seen that one. Mingus on the drums and it's got one track written by John Dankworth (whose stuff been sampled by Quasimoto on Astronaut, Madlib on an M.E.D interlude, Preemo, Damu...)

That's what they say on the discogs page, was kinda surprised too but took it for granted.

But it's indeed wrong, I just checked the liner notes and Mingus only appears on the first track and plays the bass on it.

Really dope cop today, so happy I finally got this LP. It's one of my favorite albums with rhodes + vibraphone on it ever.
The cover art is fuckin badass too, especially for 1971! Looks like the work of a mad blunted graffiti artist.
Does it somehow kinda remind anyone of Madlib's Strong Arm Steady Instrumentals cover art or am I just trippin'?

Got some other stuff too, mostly common stuff:

  • The Jazz Piano Quartet - Let It Happen
  • George Benson - Breezin'
  • Gang Starr - Full Clip/DWYCK 12"

Yeah, had to shell out 50€ on it and that's just the reissue, but still well worth it imo.
Peep the first cut for rhodes + vibraphone combo, so smooth.

found FlyLo's LA today at the shop for under $20. Was very surprised to see that. Also got the Dilla king of the beats 10" stuff. Unfortunately he only had #2 and 3. Oh well. Found a jazz record in the dollar bin that looks interesting, called a new approach to jazz improvisation, play-a-long book and record set.

I got that album a few months back as well if its the one with the red cover, there's another one called a new approach to the blues, then the opening tracks on both sides have some ridiculously dope drums.

Awesome. I haven't listened to it all the way through. Mine is a blue cover.

I have that one as well. Sadly, it is not as funky. The other one is called 'Nothin' But The Blues' Volume 2 of a New Approach to Jazz Improvisation.

yeah that one is pretty dope sunny, love how they split the bass and keys hard left and right so you can get a nice clean filtered bass and do whatever with seperate chops on the keys, there are definitely other good ones in that series, think there something like 30 or so, some with some more notable players too (i know kenny barron is on some), should usually be cheap buys too

That's awesome that Barron is on one! I was playing it for my neighbor today and he thought it would be cool if a pretty well known musician was on one of those 'teaching' records early in their career. Then I played my Kenny Barron 'Innocence' LP for him without even knowing the connection.

$1 at a local thrift store.  Case in terrible condition, but the record is pristine.  So much awesome on this thing...
