Missed this one.

"It was one of the first efforts as Baatin, T3 and Dilla came out of the Senepod crew name and became Slum Village. At the time Dilla didn’t even have a drum machine, so this beat was actually made using the “pause and record” tape method."

Nobody linked this PBW interview? He talks about the MCA album, sequel to Donuts and more...

I think (in this post), I focused more on Dilla's production.....didn't really speak on his venomous lyrics....

To me (just me, not speaking for anyone else), his lyrical game was not to be messed with!!!!

He was/is clearly in my Top 5 M.C.'s list...hands down!!!!

Was his 'content' different from some of these rappers today (whips, chicks, smokin, etc....)...nope, not at all....

But I just loved the way he 'phrased' his lyrics...he empathized certain words...can't really describe it....but shit was ill in my book....

And he just knew how to ride a beat...it was like.. he rapped with the 'beat'...in sync...not just spittin over an instrumental.....

Like I said.... can't really describe the vibe.....hell, his Legacy speaks for itself....

Lyrics...off the chain.....

'You roll a 500 that's really a 320....'

'Numbers look crooked...like King Kong shook it...'

Banoodles...

And.......

Let's not get it twisted......

No disrespect to The Roots, Busta, anyone that presented some sort of Dedication to Dilla.....

But BK 5&6...

Not only was it (to me) the best of the Beat Konducta series.....

But...I don't know...you can tell that shit came from the heart......

No interviews, no write-ups...

Madlib spoke to his mans (R.I.P.) through his 'music'... you can just feel that shit......

I can't even imagine what music would sound like right now if Dilla and Madlib were still making music together.....

One of my favorite Dilla verses. Jeedo was just breaking it down a few days ago.

The song is super personal in so many ways. The guy that Dilla is talking about on the record, I know the guy. He’s talking about a dude who took an older Benz and changed the numbers on it and tried to pass it off as a newer car. I know the cat that he’s talking about – this corny ass cat. They used to hang out back in the days. I used to tell him the dude’s a fuckin’ cornball.

KEEP CRUSHIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Todays stream is of the original version of, “Crushin” produced by me. We have J Rocc to thank for this one. I was Djing with Houseshoes in San Fran with Fran Boogie and DJ Mr. E. We heard J Rocc was staying in the same hotel and went to holla at him. We were talking about Dilla rarities when he said that he liked that version of, “Crushin” I did. I was like what version!?! He played it and it split my melon! I did that beat for Dilla circa 2002 for his MCA project – I assumed he never used it when I didn’t hear anything. Turns out it was the original version that he later remixed himself for his then – newly founded label, Mummy Records.

?uestlove's Dilla mix on Hot 97. Is the Come Close Remix that he played a minute of available anywhere? All I can find is the remix with Q-Tip and Badu.
