Folks,

Being listening to Illa J's Yancey boys and loving it, I love the lazy beats and slow delivery of his songs, can anyone recommend some similar hip hop albums and runs at the same downbeat pace as his?

Thanks in advance

Just about anything produced by Dilla would sound like the Yancey Boys album

Mad Skillz "From Where?!" Dilla produced a couple joints on that LP. Skillz in an interview said that he passed on Runnin, She Said and I think Stakes Is High. Crazy... all classics. Wonder if one of those beats would have made his LP a bigger hit. (although I think "From Where" is a slept on classic)

He's still doin' his thing! Goes by the name of John Regal I think nowadayz.. saw him at the jazz cafe in london a few months back with F&D, Elzhi & Phat Kat at a Dilla tribute night.. Pretty sure he's part of SV now!

At the show he performed a few tracks like timeless, R U listenin then he spit a few Dilla rhymes which was dope to see. He then sounded very humble and asked the audience if it was ok to perform some of his newer shit... sounded dope with the live band... anyway here was my favourite track he performed that night - dudes talkin' bout a long distant relationship!
