I've been involved with music, as I'm sure many of you have, since I was a wee lad. This manifested itself into writing raps and recording a mixtape. Luckily, with some funding I was able to put together a bit of a low-key home set up consisting of a Maschine, Miniak, turntable, S1, and microphone. I've never crafted an instrumental in my life, but I'd like to begin a sincere attempt to produce here and there.

I guess what I'm asking is where does one begin, it's easy to get flooded in the deluge of YouTube videos and forums with 15 pages dedicated to why or why not you should use a virtual audio cable. I'm asking for opinions on everything a young squire should learn/focus on when approaching beatcraft.

Much obliged, friends.

nice set-up you got there. I suggest just learning the basics to start off, get used to your workflow. Start sampling shit and just experimenting putting stuff together, learn how to mix, EQ, add FX, etc.
