From the history I've gathered it was very hyped before the official album dropped because a version had leaked to the internetz quite a while before.

yep it was mad hyped on here and when it dropped lots of questions about the fancy clown sample :P prefer that madvillian bootleg myself just rawer and in some cases better vocal takes

Yeah that would make sense. Thought it too early for a full album review.

Wow, I'm sincerely excited for this album. I think it has potential to be DOOM's best full length since Mm.. Food. Hopefully it doesn't disappoint. Winter Blues is the shit!

Only heard the 'Ello Guv'nor track. Sounds interesting. But I really like the track DOOM did with Jarel called "Let's Go". Hope the album sounds similar.

Copied from WuCorp Forum, Posted 31/07/12:

"According to Nature Sounds Twitter:

@naturesounds
This JJDOOM project is dope kinda in a Vik Vaughn sorta way but #DOOMSTARKS will hit you like the first time you heard OperationDOOMsday"

Never saw this tweet at the time. When I see things like this I am always reminded for Lex's 'One Sheet' promoting Born Like This where they stated that the album was "DOOM's most consistent and complete album to date". WTF...why bother with such hype when most people will end up listening for free before making a purchase (not me tho. I've ordered both CD & Vinyl of KTTK, lol)...just makes people not take your label seriously in future.

Mind you maybe DOOMStarks is as good as they say. My theory is that DOOM realises the exposure that S&C could give him. He had this with Madlib, but with Ghost it's a whole different story. DOOM is still relatively unknown to the masses and casual hip hop heads, so I think he has taken his time with it to craft something special. Rose Tinted glasses, perhaps :lol:

^ yeah the beats are pretty abstract and hit or miss for me. But that's Jneiro's style. It's kinda nice to hear Doom over something that's so different. I've always thought that another VV album using the same producers from Vaudeville Villain (Sound Ink) would've been fucking sweet as hell but that's just a pipe dream. What about El-P production? :O

I'm thinking that it will take a couple of listens to 'get it' like MV did for me. I didn't like banished at first & then after a bit it clicked. There are some instant hitters though (Guv'nor, Winter Blues, Retarded Fren).

I'd love another VV album but I wonder if the first was a fluke from Sound Ink as their other production work (the little i've heard) hasn't really inspired me. El-p is a good shout along with maybe Flying Lotus for 'VV3: Viktorious Villain' :blink: For me, Vaudeville Villain is DOOM's most consistant album lyrically...His style was unfuckwitable on there.

I would pay any amount of money for a DOOM album produced by El-P. El has a perfect track record so far. Never did I think I would listen to Killer Mike, but that R.A.P album is in my top 10 of the year easily. Guess that Fondle 'Em Fossils remix is the closest we've got to that though. and YES to another VV album. Vaudeville is my fav DOOM album and one of my favorite albums by anybody ever. Definitely top 3 rap albums.

Same here. So much gets talked about MV (and quite rightly too) but VV is above it in my list. So much going on lyrically.

In regards to ideas production wise, I wouldn't mind a DOOM album produced by Oh No...Seems to be really coming into his own these days.

Going back to Vik Vaughn dream production (and also going a little leftfield here)...Have you heard Parallel Thought's new album 'Art of Sound'? I could see DOOM on a few of their darker edge beats, and it would be in keeping with the VV ethos of using less recognised producers. They have also recorded together in the past so wouldn't be too much of a stretch really. You can stream their new record here btw: http://potholesinmyb...holes-premiere/

Agree completely about MV vs VV. It seems whenever someone posts online asking about DOOM, MV is always the album people recommend to start with, but I always have to chime in with VV. Everything about that album is perfect IMO. Between the production, the lyrics, DOOM's flow, and just the general cohesiveness of the record, I couldn't ask for anything more in a hip-hop album. Top 3 DOOM albums for me are VV, MV and Mm.. Food, but the latter two don't even come close to the first.
