First song I heard from the Villy was the doomsday title track. I think it was around the time of its release. My brother knew some guy who had a radio show and dropped me the name so I checked it out. I didn't feel it much. Beat was a bit soft for my tastes at the time. I think if I'd heard Hey! First I'd have been a fan from day dot.

Then my man hit me up with a lot of stuff at once and I gradually got into it. By the time MV came out I was down with DOOM's rhymes but I didn't fall in love straight away again. The short songs, no choruses etc took a while to get used to. After repeat listens it all fell into place tho

Bought the US version on vinyl and the UK on cd back in the day.

Prob gonna get that repress anyway, lol. The OG UK version is quite pricey. Usually I'd want OG but the fact I have the US OG negates the need.

So someone at work showed me this is a thing: http://www.discogs.c...release/2730800

at work I was laughing thinking it was some fake project someone else did but t his is a real one

https://mfborat.band...d-the-moustache

In 2006, during a stint out west to promote his then new movie, Sacha Cohen, (aka Borat) met Daniel Dumile, better known as

Zev Love X, or MF DOOM. Their blazing freestyle ciphers and mutual love of Purple Kush led to an impromptu recording of Doom’s ‘My Favorite Ladies’ verses (see Herbalisers’ Something Wicked…album) over a beat Borat had made back in ’05 with Kulki Boolchek, a Khazak producer.

Ha yeah I was just surprised it didn't sound like trash

Also, badass they used the UK art for the DangerDoom reissue http://shop.lexrecor...k-vinyl-reissue . Always thought that art looked way more badass. Might see if I can sell my OG US copy lol

Lex have missed a trick by not including the Occult Hymn EP as an extra disc. Never had a physical release.

It's probably not their master recording, and I doubt Danger Mouse is going to do them any favors.

where was this 7 years ago when i was hunting for a reasonably priced copy? though i definitely paid less than 35 bucks for the one i did find. I wonder how many they'll press up? probably not that many. Those King Geedorah represses really flooded the market, you can get a gatefold TMYTL for 20 bucks now! wonder if the same will happen for DD?

it's also kinda crazy that the US pressing of Danger Doom is now going for more than the (obviously superior in every way) Lex pressing...

I agree, like was mentioned a few pages back, Occult Hymn should have been sprinkled into the tracklist, or at least a bonus piece of wax. But yeah, pretty sure all that stuff belongs to Williams Street/adult swim, seeing as it was just a free download on their website, so Lex probably doesn't have the opportunity anyway.

damn vaughn wins the prize: 1 year supply of buckets of yucky excrement

impostas is probably the single most slept on DOOM track, and is on that other level for sure. DIdn't think anybody would pull it out

Realised we were missing another two...

"He wrote this humdinger with a dislocated bling finger."

And...

"He wrote this lyric from in the bed with a chick, she had the tightest grip around the head of my [-dick-]"

Can you guess the tracks tho?

1. Prince Po ft DOOM - Social Distortion

2. DOOM - Batty Boyz

Wonder if there are any other low key ones we are forgetting.

Anyway, yeah wish I had Occult Hymn on wax. Would have liked an Iron Rose vinyl single release too.

I wonder if it's because people are lazy, US version 1LP vs Lex 2LP lol Def trying to ditch my US version for the Lex repress.

this is old news. but this is the only thing i can find about it online now
http://www.nytimes.c...c/11danger.html
http://reporter.blog...te-mystery.html
from what i understand of these "contentious renegotiation talks," danger mouse blew the fuck up and lex/emi had to squeeze him for dough.

Can anyone tell me what the difference of the 12" Version of Change the Beat (on the gold disc vinyl version) is from the one on the original CD?

Wondered if it's just exactly the same, only minus the thunderstorm noise effects to allow space to include it?

Looking at the track duration on iTunes' Rae Dawn / Change the Beat single and listening the track on UGHH's storepage, that seems to be the case yes.

The 12" version doesn't have the short intro with DOOM saying "Nah yo, change that beat..." either, it starts right away with the beat dropping.

'Really ain't got shit to say like Timmy McVeigh'

Rap is the only kind of music where you can nail down almost the exact year it was written by the lyrics.

The execution date was June 11, 2001 ... McVeigh chose William Ernest Henley's poem "Invictus" as his final statement. Just before the execution, when he was asked if he had a final statement, he declined.
