This reminds me of a Kid Cudi who is burnt out after a shroom binge. You know?

Compare:

Totally seems like some kind of post-"Pursuit of Happiness" burn-out.

But I don't want to judge!!! Maybe his other stuff is awesome and would give some sort of context to this sound....
I respect Stone's Throw Records, so I don't want to be like, "WTF?!"

But seriously...uh...wtf...?

:D

Sounds like Folerio's lyrics with Dudley's crooning & Anika's production vibe.

pretty cool mix of styles, with the minimal wave starkness of the beat/repetition and the loner headphone no-gloss vibe of the vocals and delivery. way to listen to the song without screaming about cooties, y'all, i think this is why you're licking the glass outside stones throw offices and not working there. idiots.

Ha I was honestly waiting for this thread
But yes I said the exact same thing. Seeing ST posted this I gave it an honest listen....but fuck I could not finish the whole thing. This track is a fucking MESS, I heard shit on the mainstream thats a million times better than this, not only was the damn instrumental annoying but those fucking vocal are just complete shit. Such money goes to waste nowadays :/

It just seems to me like a new musical "artist" should at least prove that s/he can make decent music before doing stuff like this.... If an established, respected musician put out a pseudo-artsy, anti-pop track like this, at LEAST we would know that s/he COULD sing and make good music.

But for all I know, Bryant K is tone-deaf and just takes himself far too seriously.

If this is supposed to be some kind of avant-garde jazz-esque R&B, they should at least tell us that's the intention. Even so, avant-garde jazz takes talent and skill (even if it's not your cup of tea), but I can't really detect any definite sign of talent or musical ability in this song.

I'm really baffled by this song, this "artist," and ST's motivation to release this....

Any ideas?

Wolf likes it.

But why??

I love and respect Wolf. But I think he must know something that we don't--something about Bryant K that would make him like the music.

If it hadn't been released by ST, I just wouldn't care. But because it is, I'm truly curious.

I can imagine how I might find quality in parts of the song, but I'm just imagining. I'd like a reason.

Pretty much the worst thing ive ever heard. Maybe thats the point hes trying to sound horrible but...whatever this is garbage. Also stones Throw is progressively becoming worse and I find myself buying less and less of their releases. I dont even want to d/l most of it for free.

I can see how some of their new artists and some new releases are a little.... meh to ok. But this song right here just plain out fucked shit up, Stones Throw's rep points just went down with this one. I don't think ST has gone to shit just yet, but if they keep releasing crap like this then it's only a matter of time.

ive been showing love/supporting since lootpack days but now the only thing keeping me interested in stonesthrow is hearing some new doom verses eventually and MED. Sad thing is I used to tell people man check stones throw you cant go wrong with that label. Now when I say that they hit me back like wtf is this whack shit.

it's one thing to jump off the bandwagon because the label is starting to put out lukewarm garbage that could fit into any pre-programmed radio playlist or whatever, like if stones throw signs ne-yo and akon then i hear you. i even have some deep reservations about the amount of mayer hawthorne stuff they're pimping that obviously would not exist if he hadn't blown up in the mainstream, plus his concerts getting sponsored by foreign car companies when he's supposed to be repping detroit.

but when you say you lose mad respect for the label for putting something out that's pushing the limits, both of what this label can put out and even what music can be (which says way more about your stubbornness) then that's just sad. i like when labels take risks, go for that underground shit that maybe people aren't down with, then fast forward 10 years and you got people saying they always loved it. "WHY CANT MADLIB RAP WITHOUT THE WEIRD HELIUM VOICE??? HOW COULD WOLF DISRESPECT US REAL HIP HOP HEADS."
