Hey guys, i'm looking for a synthesizer (either software or hardware) where i can produce spacey synth sounds much like this....... note i'm not trying to be a Dilla wanna be, I just really want to make a chill beat with some spaced out sounds. I've tried using the arturia Minimoog but I don't really think it's for that.... I like it more for bass, anyways if you guys can reccomend any synthesizers that can produce a sound like this then I would greatly appreciate it. I'm also looking for a really deep spacey synth sound with some wobbling type effect.... I know it's hard to explain what i'm looking for but im hoping some of you guys may know good synthesizers to point me towards

or this

that dilla beat kinda sounds like a fender rhodes. might not be a synth at all. nord synths have pretty tight rhodes patches. the ones i've heard in logic sound spot-on too. sure there are tons of em

fo real? I would have never guessed it was a rhodes, i guess it could be though... now that you mention it. Usually the Rhodes has that thick low end though, im guessing Dilla must have cut off the low end on this one. It's layered though, a thicker sounding synth that goes with the kick and a thin and smooth one that goes along throughout the song.

I've tried Rhodes patches, never came up with anything like this though, I've used the Lounge Lizard from AAS. But they have pretty weak rhodes sounds on there, IMO. I would rather sample rhodes from records because it has a totally different sound.

Im guessing I can do something like this with the microkorg, which I'm probably gonna buy one soon anyways. I want to explore more sounds with synthesizer's, thinking of taking a subtractive synthesis class as well

just throw a nice thick delay on a "normal" synth sound and you'll be tripped out with how spacey it is. Reverb too.

If a basic delay/reverb doesn't cut it, throw more effects on it. PSP Nitro is dope for this kind of thing.

Ironically, there is no echo or reverb in space. There is no sound ad all, in fact. It's a vacuum. So if you want truly spacey sound, look no further than absolute silence.

bump.

anyone know where i can get some dope, free vst's of synths and what-not?
i've been trying to do some research on getting some new sound kits and shit, and i figured i might as well upgrade my plugins as well so that my beats start sounding less monotonous.
