Is it a matter of quanity over quality or what? Am I missing something here? I mean it's cool to have a couple of artist that you respect but what's the use of having so many friends if you don't even correspond with them? I'm new to the arena so I'm just asking an honest question. If someone could offer their imput I'd apprecitate it. Thanks in advance.
Peace,
Tyrone Capone

I add the artists that I like and actually listen to and own cd's/records of go see live and support. It's the easiest way to stay on top of what's coming up from them.

For me it's a balance of 50/50 where my "friends" are concernd, half of them I know, some of them happen to be musical artists and the other half I know and like their music.

It's a fun way to keep in touch with those that you actually know too.

It's true though, some people I think just go for quantity, like you say. "Look at me I have 10,000 friends, 3 I actually know"

For a while me and my roommate were having a competition to see whose music page could hacve the most friends. I don't treat my personal space the same way I treat my music page, I'll never turn down a request on my music page while my personal one I rarely approve anyone. I would say that on my music page I probably added half of my friends with at least 500 to 600 adding me...

I don't get why people get their panties in a knot over this.

Who cares. Let people accept whoever they want to. Stop caring.

In the case of where people have something to promote, I think it's so that when they post a bulletin, more people can see it....
That's pretty much it.

Just watch out for the girls who request you as a friend if....

a) Their main pic is of them in a bathing suit, bra & panties, etc.
 They only have one pic
c) Their personal info is very brief usually just their sign and always, always, always "I don't want kids"

The funniest thing about these is that they actually get guys to add them and then the dumbasses send them comments.

space is cool for keeping up with new releases...
discovering new talent
political rallies
then you have some friends you actually met on space and talk on a regular basis
friends at work that are on space.
it's an easy contact tool instead of using email.
i added some people at this point that were just pointless. They don't post every 30 seconds so i leave them alone. Got more important things to do than deleting "friends"...

ITS SIMPLE AS AN ARTIST: The more people you add, the bigger your network to baranch out will be. The More friends you have, the more popular you "CAN" become.

for an artist who's just starting out it may be a tedious process now on myspace to aquire as many friends.....simply because it's now getting to be overkill. "normal" members will get at least 10-20 "myspace artist" requests per week on average, and they're clearly getting sick of it. It takes good "self-marketing" skills on the site now, more than ever.....

Just my thoughts..

Well, if you have your music on there...and the people who ask you to be their friend make music as well...then why not? Don't you want people to listen to your music?
