forgive me if this topic's already been discussed. so i've used both of these, my friend has a vestax and i've used the numark @ big b's in vegas. i'm leaning towards the vestax but would appreciate this boards input before i make a final decision. i'm being swayed by the price of the numark though, i found it for cheap here

discuss.

i'm having problems posting links so i just left the address.

well i only have experience with the pt, but i really really love it... i've had it for 1 years now and its been rock solid ever since i bought it. It's really cool to bring digging and it lasts long on batteries(even cheap ass ones). The only downside to me is that the lid can be a bit of a problem sometimes, but you get used to that. And the shit is cheap.... i would buy a pt1 again, any day!!

plus it fits inside a recordbag

i have the vestax, it's a good portable, I only have one complaint. the power switch is on the outside of it, so you may turn it on without knowing it and kill the batteries (6 D batteries). That's my only complaint though, had it for about 3 years without any problems. They had a limited edition black one out not too long ago, that was really sweet looking. Good luck

^^^ I got the Vestax joint and I love it. I actually use it to listen to records when I'm in the kitchen cooking. (not like I can plug in my technics next to the blender)

I have the PT-01, it gets the job done, and yeah, the tonearm lock is an issue.

how much of a hassle is the lid though on the numark? i also read that the handle is a bit too narrow, is this true?

another question regarding portables...when you bring yours along to the store, do you ask the store if it's cool to use beforehand or do you just start throwing wax on and deal with the mean muggin'? i know it all depends on the store as well.

i got the Columbia GP-3, love it for its see-through blue finish. Only problems are it's fairly bulky, the power is non compatible in the UK, and the headphone jack is mono. On the plus side, the speaker is fairly loud for only 5w, and i think it looks the best of all the portables..

don't use it for digging so i don't care about the handle or lid. i'd be in the store all day if i was listening to stuff in there

The vestax is the better made unit. I've had both.
