Yeah.....Prince is real dope. There was a 2 album "hits" or "best of", can't remember.....but is a great cross-section of
everything from early years to later. Some of my personal faves: Raspberry Beret, Seven, Pop Life, Take Me With U.....
shiet, too many to name.

Chris Rock has a stand up bit where he discusses how for years everyone liked either Prince -or- Micheal Jackson, then with Mike's "troubles"
Prince officially wins. Indeed, in my opinion, there was no contest all along.......Not that Mike didn't have some good tunes----

Anywho, you'll prolly dig any of his other joints if you like PR. Pace-

I found Around the World in a Day in a crate at a used dvd/cd store for $1 a while back.

Good time to start liking him since he's doing the super bowl halftime show tonight! Yea!! I'm exicted.

if you dig Prince, get the Beck album - "midnight vultures"... it sounds more like Prince than Prince himself. savage pastiche.

Although I haven't really liked much of his later stuff besides "Ballad Of Dorothy Parker" and "Alphabet Street", he's definitely in the hall of fame for what he did in the early 80's (and not just the hits). And his involvement in Vanity 6 and The Time can't be fronted on either. Jamie Starr!

I saw purple rain on t.v accidentaly, and then I was hooked on that music.

I must say that it's rather boring after i've stumbled apon ST records (In comparison). But i still like that stuff. Anything with a 'strange' feel to it...

I like the tracks "Scandalous"..."Adore"..

Sex Shooter, by Vanity 6..is really dope. To me

I'm sure you've seen the Movie, Purple Rain, right?

Just caught Prince performing on t.v. at the Superbowl XLI in Miami, braodcasted in the U.S. on CBS. Prince ended his set with "Purple Rain", and before that he was doing some track that I've never heard, it goes like "...is somebody getting the best of you?", and I missed the opening of his performance , so I don't know what else that I didn't see.

Did anybody else see this?!?

Also, I noticed that he was performing under the stage name Prince,...I thought that he was now to be called "the artist formally known as", or "Symbol"(the logo symbol that Prince uses),...or, has he gone back to Prince again?!?

he went back to "Prince" a while ago.. good while ago

I couldn't tell you the exact year though. He released an album in the last 3/4 years entitled "Musicology" and also released "7021" I think just last year.. (I'm bad with numbers..that might be the wrong title)..and "Prince" it was. I used to know everything about Prince, Now I just forget.

Yeah, his Super Bowl performance was immaculate. He was killing those guitar licks. I always thought he didn't really play guitar. Don't know why.

At any rate, I am not a big fan of glam 80's shit so that seems to cancel out a lot of Prince's catalog for me. But, dude get's funky when he wants to.

I always heard his performances were amazing, after the Bowl I can see it.

Did anyone see his pre game performance? He started by saying "I'd like to start with a couple of questions", and when the press started shouting questions at him he turned his back, held the guitar neck to the sky and came down right into a song and completely silenced the whole room....dope shit...that's Prince.

Prince IS the shit!! What you talkin' 'bout he ain't been up to par in 20yrs? Go see him live and you won't be talkin' that trash.

Super Bowl press conference was hilarious, broke into 'Johnny Be Good' when the press started askin' him ?uestions. Pure Prince.

Enjoyed the SB half time performance alot!

Sho' you right, Prince get all the pussy! See the 2 chics that were his dancers on stage at the SB? DAAM!

Basicall the early stuff ('79-88) is all good. If your looking for somewhere to start, like mentioned in an earlier post, grab 'The Hits' 1&2. Can't go wrong there.
