Completely accurate with Family Guy in its current self-masturbatory state.

When Family guy started, right up until the 4th season, there were some truly legendary moments and its exposure of possible dark undertones of every sitcom on US tv in the last 30 years was brilliant. Now every fucking joke is a cutaway scene or a "this is worse than the time..." setup lines; which in fairness they have parodied themselves (Stewie setting u a line and then waiting in silence before going "oh we dont have a clip? ok moving on..."), but South Park (which was getting better and better right up until this last season which was a bit wayward) are waaaaaay above them in the rankings of animated adult shows because it deals with current issues as well as being pant-pissingly funny and downright childish in the best way possible.

Simpsons went from being one kind of brilliant, to being a bit patchy and random round seasons 14-16 back to being another kind o brilliant. And always could be watched at any time of day by kids and adults of all ages thanks to their excellent writing & family-yet-not-so-family oriented style of humour.

what he said.

They definitely both have their strong seasons. If I watch a truly excellent episode of Simpsons, I always think "This is better than Family Guy" but the opposite happens too.

Right now I am watching all the Futurama's which I had all but written off for years - now though, IMO this is a seriously underrated show. Same goes though, some episodes are shockers, some are brilliant.

I'm also watching Sit Down, Shut Up, and loving it. It's helping ease my Arrested Development withdrawal symptoms.

A classic episode of The Simpsons will still having me laughing to this day.

Whenever Family Guy comes on I get pissed off, their comedy style is tired.

Yeh I think I agree with most here. Family Guy has become really tired and unoriginal. Obviously The Simpsons is not what it once was, but the last couple of series are ok.

Best gage is Simpsons at its best Vs Family Guy at its best. Simpsons wins hands down, all day long.

"Fishsticks" was good, "Dead Celebrities" was good, "Whale Whores" was good, those were all from last season. Definitely not on par with what it used to be (what show is nowadays), but I still get a laugh.

yah i missed those. i gave up watching religiously a few years ago.

not sure what's wrong with them, but FG is taking a serious dip now too. I think Fox has pimped out the franchise too much. American Dad worked, but does anybody watch Cleveland?

Two episodes is all I could take, brutally unfunny.

yah that was South Park's lst good season as far as Im concerned.

yah and Cleveland does suck. I like the bear, but why not have a Quagmire show? that could have worked. more then Cleveland anyway.

simpsons by far. family guy is LAME. think southpark is destroying both shows though imo - they pretty much nail why i dislike family guy in there episode that takes aim at it. simpsons creators pretty much dislike family guy too.

tbh its all about adult swim for me. FRISKY DINGO! ROBOT CHICKED! ETC!

Simpsons. No competition. Simpsons say things people will acctually give a damn about years to come. Family Guy is forgettable at best.

The Simpsons was the best show on the planet for ten straight seasons, with all but the first having over 20 episodes per series. Family Guy, although occasionally funny has literally nothing on The Simpsons, it's badly written and the first few series have already dated horribly.

I'm not a FG hater, it can be funny and that's the main reason for watching comedy but I'd chuck that shit in the chipper over most other stuff.

Simpsons. It's on every day and 2 different channels here and I normally atleast catch 1 episode every day if not an hour or so.. I aways find myself laughing at something else on re-watches aswell from older episodes. Family Guy is funny though, however once you've watched all the series a few times you know how the sequence goes and find that it offers little else. I still watch it though lol.

Simpsons all the way.

Family Guy is just cheap pop culture references and attempts at gross-out humour. South Park's Imaginationland trilogy stuck a whole bundle of obscure geek references with some sick jokes and wrapped it up in a big ball of satire. South Park is better than Family Guy in my opinion but The Simpsons beats both as it's timeless in a way that goes back to the silent movies. In 20 yrs time no-one will get the gags in Family Guy as they're basically all about 80s teen flicks. I don't hate Family Guy. I just will never love it.

I picked up the 20th season of the Simpsons. It''s still good; After 20 fucking years! I bought a volume of family guy awhile back. I sold it quick. No rewatch value. You can rewatch the Simpsons and keep seeing new things.
