and a bright howdy to ya'll from west texas. seriously props to everybody these battles have really heated up. this was my twelfth entry and i've already seen this grow from then. PROPS. yes I peeped the see more files and sorry no comments but:
jvox - love your style but I think this one was more your taste than mine (btw I got to bump ur newest ep in the whip and daddy likes).
wig - this beat was very much in your vein but not your cleanest work in my opinion.

and the nominees are: (drumroll please.....um...drumroll)

bluntswrth - most unique flip...real original. loved everything but I think you could have lost a hair of the verb on the drums
goodwilL - best synths...my roommate (an avid keyboard savante) made me play this back 20 times!! please don't go.
sugoi - best chops...beautiful. these are the kind of beats I strive to make (though usually fall short)

and the winner of the STMBB #158 Tone of the Cosmos honorary nomination is....(drumroll...wait for it...drumroll cont.)

Dog Thief great track love the timbre of the drum kits and the original guitar licks compliment everything and take the whole thing in a new direction.

Until we meet again. Tone of the Cosmos (cock push-ups for the ladies and finger push-ups for the mpc)

I listened to all the beats last night, and the quality is really high.

Big up bit, Goodwill, negrosaki, borgamet for some dope beats but my vote goes to

SFT

because the track is true 80s, and the production is superb

at work, ID Tags all fucked so I don't know who some of these are, but my faves..
BIT1 - Only problem with this beat is that it doesn't have much swing/groove to it
'158 baby'? - nice use of time-strech (?) as an instrument
GoodWill - dope production
Fingerless - liked the use of the sample, maybe a bit too much of just bass/drums for me, too sparse
DJ Tavik - nice approach, I like a well used filter
Tone (with the piano?) - like the feel of this esp chords etc, like a 92 bpm version of Martyn's dubstep
? (with the Wu samples?) - like the choppiness
? (funky drummer sample) - nice
Wig - sounds like a violent drunk, lashing out at his shadow, in the 80's, bit Cupp Cave-y - think some synth bass would give this some grounding...

Imma go with Tavik

Goodwill - Sft

will - like i said before, you're one dope producer, props homie.

Sft - had to pull out my Tommy Vercetti for this one. crusin under the pink sky and the palm trees ish.

WILL - if you really do decide to bounce, this is one hell of a track to leave out with son.

Aw, thanks man! 'preciate it. <_< I'm not feeling my beat at all this week. Tried to do it all at the last minute and it came out muddled. I do much better when I can work on it one night, then listen to it on repeat all the next day, then revise and repeat.

FUCK!!! Goodwillian, that was AWESOME

Sometimes I think I'm too much of a stickler when it comes to harmonic stuff, but the way you sat that bass off-tonic on the 1 completely set that beat off for me, not to mention those heavy drums and that synth line on top. Damn good jobbage.Attached File  2205106117_f7cf93d2df.jpg   21.58K   5 downloads
