I have been a stones throw listener for years but just started making my own stuff for the past 8 months, so I am very interested to hear what anyone has to say. I just want some non-biased opinions

not trying to be a dick... but TRY, TRY AGAIN.
try listening to your beats as if another artist made them.
would you dig them still?
keep on making beats though. it'll get better...

OK
To be constructive, heres some quick notes, get rid of the 1st track, dunno what was going on there, if you wanna sample Willie The Pimp, use the opening loop...
The second track, I can see what you are trying to do with the halftime feel but its not coming off because your chops have gaps between them. There are several little tricks to extend the ends and beginnings of your slices, like minimal delay, crossfades etc. Spend some time investigating them.
The 3rd track is the one with the most potential, the idea is good and the chops are pretty creative. Again, try to do less for now. The more comfortable you become with beats, the more you can do IN TIME.
The 4th track....why do you insist on leaning on the pitch bend?!? Its a bit abrasive to be honest.
Overall, you also need to think about the big picture; that is, the overall mix. Get the levels on things to be more balanced and use the whole of the frequency spectrum.
TBH, you can learn a lot more from some very talented beatmakers on this board, people like Sugoi, Wigmaster, Deesupreme, Josh G. These guys know how to make a track click. Im still learning some things myself, im just not so great at getting the most out of my computer software. Yet.
Also, why did you choose to focus on Hot Rats..? Like the record, or Zappa, or some other reason?? Just curious here...
Good luck.

Love ZAPPA and hot rats is one of my favorite albums of his ( like em all though). Thanks for the input I just did these for fun over the week and wanted to hear what other people had to say. these were loose and kind out there. but Ill keep it simple for now and put some more hours in due time.
