Favs:

roopro - love the vibe. wish the drums switched up.

rundrip - a bit messy at the intro. the drums are solid. dope beat.

migin - love the synth work. dope.

elvisjc - that water drip effect is just so dope. makes the beat sound real mysterious.

biz20 - that bass stands out hard. diggin it. like the way u build it up with the synths

sugoisounds - yeah wish there was more variations with the synths/sample sequence & melody. ie bridge built from synths. this is the most pro sounding of all the beats tho. as in clean and crisp.

out of the bunch id buy sugoisounds. clean. crisp. yerr.

Thanks for the vote but just ignore this

The criterion for winning should be, "Does this beat make you want to buy?"

that was last week. My beat was quite monotonous, but didn't want to go overboard on synths and make the sample use an afterthought..

there were a lot of good beats this week. My three favourites were:

buttaslick - different style, and it stands out
4five - liked the way you chopped the sample, good drums, and I like how you switched up the outro
rundrip - hard beat, and nice chopping of the sample. I think it all goes really well together.

Left comments on each beat as I listened to it. If I was critical it was all out of love you know.

Lots of good beats this week, but the best is....

Lots of good beats this week ... my faves were sugoi sounds, goodwill and Rundrip, my vote for this week goes to JVox the beat had heaps going on and the way you had the synth sounding like feedback was cool ... drums kinda sound a bit like a dimlite joint in the faster part ... was choice yo

wassup yall...diggin a few tracks alot on this battle...hope i got everyone's name right

sugoisounds - i like it. like the synth throwback feel. a nice track just needs some variation or additional melody and its good for an artist to shine on. good clean feel. some minor things id do differently but too each their own.

(no name?) beat battle - has that club feel for the party heads nowadays. Mix needs work. chops fit real smoothly. nice work

Nick Beats - the chops arent bad. i thought from the intro part that those cuts were the chops going to be used, but you switched it up. i wanted to hear more of those first chops but the beat is cool.

biz 20 - that synth melody reminds me of some old 80's electro synth pop. Blended with some New York hiphop banging beats. Chops are a little repetitive but no biggie if the artist wanted to use it when writing their track.

Blush - 808 clap! this beat makes me want to blush! nice and simple. good melodys to sit nice and interplay with each other. Dope!

buttaslick - reminds me of ol skool house tracks they play in the clubs sometime in Chicago. Bouncy. Bass is booming for the juken!

Tellapath & Ibnmc - good beat. wanted to hear more variation with the cuts. synth is ok. reminds me of some 80's pop as well mixed with some early 90's type beats.

DaMannish - nice beat has dope bounce and swing. Mix is sweet. cypher ready! some additional variation will do nicely!

DIGIBEATS - that one note synth line...i see some old man sitting on the keys holding that one note down shaking is body violently with is eyes closed and head cocked to the sky. Im buggin...haa! I can dig it. The mix could maybe use some color but no biggie.

Elvis JC - nice tones. Like this one alot. Melodies are a loofy gift. I dig it! This one is devilishly warming! Dig the warbley flutter jive going on! interesting in deed! respect the arranging. love iit when the main them comes on at :10 and at 1:36. fresh shit! one of my two favorites!

goodwill? - the sample sounds like its saying "I Wiki all those ...." this could be a good beat for a Wikipedia ad! haa! chops arent bad.

ashtray - nice swinging beat. piano chop is kinda off compared to the rest of the tracks rhythmic feel. the bass freq needs some beef a bit no biggie though. nice percussion going along the background. funny skit!

Jay Butcher - chops are cool....i wouldve maybe had the first loop thats running till :53 play back and forth from the one that follows. like a two bar loop switching between the two. (ex - first loop for 2 bars followed by the second loop for two bars. ) "oh girl" is ringing in my head!

Jinesis - the scattered feel is refreshing. nice drop out at :36. Interesting take on the sample. synths are creativly structured with the intertwining interplay of the cuts. the claps are a little quite. the track could maybe use some additional percussive layers but no biggie.

Jvox - another one note old man on this one...no hate though....Digibeats warmed me up to it. Nice.... an additional note. Oh snap...the bridge at around 1:07 is sick to the dope shit that comes in at 1:17. Feeling this sequence. slowed down ish is sick. Digging the creativeness on this one. Synth is nice and uplifting. love the interplay of chops and synths. Those chops are sick. The tone is colorful. the bass drum i wanted to hit harder but Dope job! one of my two favorites.

Kal-EL - oh shit. switched it up though. I was expecting a different drum feel to start after the intro like pattern sequence of the chops at :07. a little more mixing to help the bass and synth bass to sound more IMO. more variation but nice work.

Key - a little unsure on the mix of the bass freq's. a see what you going for though with the chops. not bad.

Kid Clientele - not bad. i wanted to hear more variety and fills IMO. good job

lennycorino - cool beat. i could see Ghostface on this shit for sure on one of his storytelling escapades! The mix is massive.

MCSPLIFF - 32nd hats are ill with the drum rolls and sample chops. good arranging of the elements

Me-o-Sonic - nice different feel. original take on the sample is a plus. the mix is colored well

MiGiN - nice little synth melodies going on. the drums are a little week in the mix. has a jam band feel with background singers.

Mixes for Lee - got that ol 90's dance pop drum machine sound feel to it. not bad. bass is a little muddy IMO.

No Control - like that muddy hollowed out vibe. needs more variation. and some tweaking on some parts to make them shine a bit more...no bad though

Phate 75 - diggin the dub feel. like the chop ideas. the drums have a nice tone to them. The hats are dope...wish i could hear them a bit more. needs some work but this has some good potential.

Rober 420 - chops are ok but a bit jagged in the layout. wanted a bit more swing IMO and the drums could use some fills and such. good start though

Roo Pro - Nice swing going on. chops are smooth and placed well. synth is ok. drums sound good. bass drum may be a bit too hot though.

Rundrip - like slowed down chops. layering going on is supurb. mix is brilliant

sft - chopps are cool. synth is choice. bass is cutting. vibe is ill. wanted more drums shit going on with some percussion but no biggie

A.V. - not bad. chops needs some work to fit smoothly a bit. mix in need of some clearing. good start though

grimystar - mix needs some clearing up a bit as well taming. needs variation with the chops too. not bad though

Terry Teo - diggin the direction its heading...some things needs a little more tweeking but i can feel the vibe. good keys to go along with the choice sample cuts

J Listed - like how you used the sample cuts for note melody work. needs something to compliment the prominent melody. good job though

Tillman - drums seemed a bit thin. like the vibe though. down tempo ish is meditative!

Tron - not bad. wanted to hear more variation. the mix needs a bit coloring nice job though.

Venomous - dope! the shit has got me picking at my bloody scabs!!! dig the tone! thats spooky organ is sick. another one one note old man on that shit!!! third cat on that choice shit. nice switch up at 1:09! wanted to hear a bit more with the chops being played out but dig the craftiness!

4FIVE - the mix is too hot IMO. nice chill vibe.

Hey people,

I'm very proud to be here for the first time. I hear a lot of good tune for this battle.
I really like 4 five "Interpretations" beat, good chops and groovin drums. Love it !
Sugoisound, I love it, nice bass, i like the way you sound.
But, my favourite is RooPro
Nice drums, love the guitar chops and nice synth. Really love that beat.

See you for the next battle.

LOTS of great beats. Here's the ones that grabbed me and appealed to my personal tastes the most:

BUTTASLICK
epic... big sound. confident. sexy! would sound great with a male or female vocal or both.

MC SPLIFF
love how it comes in full with no buildup and all those hi-hats. I was thinking recently that Will Smith is due to put out another summer single... this type of track would be great for him. great use of the vocals and horns. catchy and memorable. those drop-outs are right in the pocket.

COS
big fan of this style. had me thinking about autechre or clark. this one could stay in rotation on my ipod.

BIZ20
good old down and dirty hip-hop. nice building and layering of sounds. intelligent synth work.

JINESIS
love how this is smooth and staccato at the same time. reminds me of Angie Stone. thought it might have been more interesting if the synth didn't follow the sample progression so closely. i'm not sure.

TILLMAN
dig it. rugged but languid. could be on a wu-tang album.

ELVIS JC
the sequence from :44 to 1:25 is a home run. if the whole tack was based around this part it might have been a winner for me. I wasn't feeling the other parts quite as much though.

JAY BUTCHER
real nice flow. the first 8 bars were the best part. I wanted the track to go back there.

KID CLIENTELE
Unique sound. reminded me of Jay-Z stuff on the grey album.

MiGin
love how the vocal blends into the beat at the beginning. had to rewind that. :) the electronic pads were a little happy for my taste. you had a nice groove going there underneath.

TERRY TEO
I like the doors-y electric piano and the slow laid back vibe. appreciated the off-beat flavor, but thought some of it could have been just a little closer to quantized to keep it flowing.

also appreciated: goodwill, sugiosounds, 4 Five, Phate 75, beat battle, Sledgehammer Slave, Tellapath

P.S. @ Marcosis: LMAO at the one note old man comment. Hilarious visual....
