Do you know of any Atmopsheric Rap albums with instrumentals that have a cinematic, visual quality.

Here are some examples: Hell on Earth by Mobb Deep, any of the early Wu records, anything by Nashiem Myrick (what happened to this dude?)

there's a few UK albums that fit the bill: Jehst - "falling down" ...or Cappo - "Spaz the world" (the P Brothers beats on this one are fucking insane)

how about some of the earlier People under the stairs stuff?

ABSENCE by Dälek fits the bill. Dead serious vocalist rappin' over Industrial, wall-to-wall chaos

that sounds horrible.

yeah... Lewis Parker's "masquerades and sillouettes" is dead atmospheric and that.. did anyone see he's released the instrumentals to it as a lilited pressing through his world of dusty vinyl label. the instro to "101 pianos" is amazing.

nashiem myrick and carlos "6 july" broady did a lot of work on biggie's life after death, capone and noreaga's the war report, and la the darkman's heist of the century. these all came out around '97. look for instumentals or go through the album tracks, look for non-vocal parts, and loop them up in protools, garageband, cool edit or something...

definitely DJ Shadow and probably even more so RJD2. I agree with People Under the Stairs. A couple tracks of the "Or Stay Tuned" EP or pretty atmospheric. "Outrun" in particular.

Definitely RJD2 and DJ Krush, but I keep coming back to The Beatnuts "Stone Crazy." Soundwise it falls in the same category as early Mobb Deep and Wu-Tang. As for atmosphere, how they looped Chrysalis "30 Poplar" for Finger Smoke. Brilliant.

Liquid Swords... Such a good album. The production is from another world.

Gravediggaz - 6 Feet Deep - Its horror core but amazing. Has Prince Paul and the Rza. Very Creepy.

Aesop Rock - Float. Just amazing whether the lyrics or production. Very brooding and dark. If you can keep up with Aesops rapping it is definately a must buy. Takes time

Madvilliainy obviously.

all jneiro's stuff is tight like that. three piece puzzle is a solid album. beat journey has some nice atmospheric jazz sounds.
