The Drop containing the sample can be found here

SFT, be sure to use a sample from the Stones Throw collection here

Attention: new rules for this week:

View Postsft, on Jun 27 2009, 12:18 AM, said:

Aight so a bit of a switch up of things this week.

In memory of MJ (RIP) the rules are to use the sample to make an MJ beat. Ie. Billie Jean, Smooth Criminal etc.

Rules still the same as last week as in no outside samples/keys etc. Use ur own drums/bass..

Sounds hard right??

Yip.

Challenge urself. Time to get creative.

Good luck.

-you need to submit a beat or be a member here for at least 2 weeks to vote

SO you should upload your beat to http://drop.io/stmbbattle122 by 23.59 Thursday, July 2nd. Voting until 23.59 Friday the 3rd (all times NYC)

ALSO BE SURE TO CHECK THE FAQ THREAD

Good luck gents!

MJ beat? you mean make it sound like something he would use or make it sound like an existing MJ song?

please elaborate...

I'm assuming, take the samples and build a MJ rhythm/melody of your choice.

Zactly.

Cats might choose to recrete the same song but lets see who can make the tightest sounding one.

OOooooookaaay i get it now. So let's be Quincy Jones, isn't it? This is even better than sampling MJ.

Yup. Not only sampling, but this is what people in the bizz call "arranging". So sick.

Well we had to switch it up instead of the same ol for the last few months. Getting our Quincy Jones on seemed kinda appropriate to honour MJ in someway. Hope the winner next week takes it in a different direction.

I won't believe MJ is dead. I bet He got his old face put back on and he snuck away to rendezvous with Elvis and Tupac.

Interesting rules. Please, do not make a beat ignoring SFT's rules! OTherwise it'll be deleted. So people who have been used to the old rules, read the topic before starting your beat.

welcome back ta-ku, hope you still bring the heat !
and sorry for not voting last battle.

wooooo!! havent been here in a while now. but in honour of MJ i'll have to come back. so let me get this right, we use the sample on the upload page, and make a track that could have been a MJ style beat? my my my, this gonna be some interesting battle.

not sure if you guys are sick of MJ tracks by now, what with the endless playing of his music on every radio station and music channel, but ive put together a podcast of my favourite tracks. it focuses more on his early stuff, just good music. have a listen if you interested.

Nop, you make a track that resembles an actual MJ beat with that sample. Not a new one, as much as i'd like to listen to another of your original beats !
Listen to AZ's beat, it reminds one or the original "scream"

Had to delete some beats. Be sure to read the rules gents. You must use the given sample to create the beat, not taking a Michael Jackson track and flipping that.

Uppsy daisy!

Tried a ting with the dancehall version of "Billie Jean", as made most famous by man like Shinehead.
