1 GB maximus.

got mine at rock & soul in nyc for $360 cash. you could find one used on ebay for around $200 probably...

some dude on craigslist is selling his sp-1200 for $1450 right now

noice, thanks for the info...I googled for a minute then said fuck it I'll just ask STMB...

Yeah I'm pretty excited about messing with this...hope to be back in the battles more in 09...

another question: can you use the 404 pads as a midi device like an mpd?

nope, its just midi in like the 303. the 505 & 606 have midi out (and obviously the 555 too).

oh and sampling time with the 1 GB card is 193 minutes in stereo (772 minutes in lo-fi & mono mode)

you definitely won't be dissapointed, that little box works wonders, tracks can sound amazing out of it, just gotta learn to use the effects to your advantage, i'm sure your experience in chopping and makin beats will make learnin this thing a breeze, a week tops, and then you'll just start firing stuff out faster and faster, and even though i think it makes bomb tracks in general, i think it is really a self satisfying box, i make beats on that thing for just me to hear, shit is always raw and i just love making 3 interlude style tracks that are real short and simple to put around my beats to listen too, my only problem is that when the cards start to fill up, you realize how little the banks are, sometimes i'll only get like 5 beats off of the 8 internal banks of a new card, i'll have tons of drums scattered about, both original hits and different resamples of them, and i don't have room on the internal to put them on and bring it to another card if i want old drums for a new sample.....just be real organized with it

and for cards, go looking at all sorts of stores around you, places def have them, you just gotta find it, i don't know if you have any sort of place like a sams club or bj's wholesale around you, but thats where i get mine, 15 a piece for 1gig cf cards, and i seem to be the only one buyin em, just check places like staples, drugstores, i don't know, anywhere you can think of, you'll find it where you least expect it

nah the 404 goes to CF 1GB, I confirmed that...was hoping for more but 1GB is pretty good.

i haven't pulled the trigger yet, so I'll check out the 606 a bit more...

thanks CBH for the knowledge drop

I found a 1GB CF flash on Amazon for $15...of course regular SD cards and even higher capacity CF cards were cheaper...

I'm kind of leaning towards the 606 because of MIDI out and USB...if I can find one at the same price as the 404 or close.

Any reason why I should not get a 606 over a 404?

if 606 has fast processing time like the 404 then get it. if it's slow like the 303 i'd pass...

the other dope thing about 404 is the AA battery option. you could be anywhere making beats--in your car, outside, wherever...

yeah, I will probably just buy the 404, hopefully tomorrow. 606 looks nice but first of all I can't find any, and I do like the size and portability of the 404.

ahhhhhhhhhh

i just sent you a message but here

The thing i love about the 606 is its pretty much like a mpc

theres 32 pad banks

theres 16 sampling pads

The processor is faster than the 404

the pads on here feel more similar to your mpd pads

the 404 pads are wobbly and a lot of dust can collect in between and can ruin your shit( this happened to one of my friends)

Theres 45 effects(which is a shitload)

Theres a built in four track and synthseizer thing.

Seriously if you can find one at least 100 $ more than a 404 get it.

My friend was thing about producing and he bought his off ebay for 450, he ended up buying some crazy ass roland one for 1200 and he sold me his .

404 is shit compared to the 606

peace

Yeah, I just replied to it but you have me blocked...

thanks dood. if I can find one quick I might do it. yeah I should probably be more patient though, huh.

right now they pretty much unavailable everywhere i've looked online and off.

is the 606 portable, battery powered?

fuck i'm trying to format the CF card in my 555, but it won't power up right when the card is in there. it only powers up correctly when there is no card in the slot.

when the card is in there, and i power up, it goes through the roLand intro and then reads "555" then flashes "5" and powers off.

it's a Transcend 1GB CF, I'm inserting it all the way and replacing card slot holder before powering on...

Good choice man, I've been wanting one ever since I've seen it, but it's too much money considering the fact that I know I'll probably end up not using it... I'm getting myself a new synthesizer for christmas instead
