I hear you on this. It got me in the habit of saving more often. One good thing I can say about Ableton, I've had a plugin crash it 3-4 times and it has always auto saved.
word. the auto-save function is one of the things I really like about ableton. There was one time where it didn't work, but it was pretty much my fault, cus I didn't save for like 6 or 7 hours and ableton didn't manage to reconstruct all the shit I've done. Other than that, it works pretty well. Long story short: Frank, you should get in on ableton. hehe.

Oh shit! I almost spit my drink everywhere. Haha! Yeah James, ableton is nice. There's a big initial learning curve, but after that it makes more sense than any other DAW I've used and I've been through most of the major ones. Of course, we all know that creative dudes can use whatever, but it's definitely worth a stab.
FL Studio is like the retarded step-brother of Ableton
I can vouch for this. I used Reason for about 10 years also, and I don't think it ever crashed unless I had it Rewired through Cubase and the shady copy of Cubase was probably the culprit.
actually reason almost never crashes. 10 years on it and I've never seen it crash

yeah, i should probably start investing $ into actual licenses and legit programs lol...up to this point i've only been using either my SP-303 by itself or a cracked version of FL Studio 9 with VST's and plugins i downloaded for free from various, possibly shady websites. fyi "expo" was the culprit in this particular instance, so watch out for that.

One time reason couldn't load a song anymore because of a "corrupt file" or something like that?
Still don't know what that was about... it prevents you from loading samples that are not compatible...
Cubase is pretty solid too... have a cracked version... sometimes have to start it up twice...
Lately it's getting more glitchy... but my gear's also getting olderand I'm doing heavier and heavier projects.
I takes a while to get over a loss... but after several years you realize you can then make a way better track than the lost one was...
