Anne Bonny is my SHITTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
they just keep pushing the bar higher and higher each project...
i feel like these are B-sides to whatever's coming out next year, but even their throwaway tracks are miles ahead of everyone else.
every time i hear them i get inspired to push the boundaries of my own music; i do straight loops and rhymes a little too often, i gotta get on my experimental shit

This is dope. A lot of it is almost like dub tracks. "You might think......." is killing me right now.

i dig the concept...from the one track i've heard so far it sounds insane, i'm very happy that this is sounding more like their 2012 output rather than Government Plates.

They sampled bits of her voice.  She doesn't actually sing on the album.  Sounds like she might not have even known they we're doing that.

Yea. I just meant that from her comment it didn't sound like she collaborated with them on the album and maybe just found out that they did that.

This album is so brutal. Can't wait to see them again this summer. Hopefully they actually play the Bowl and don't cancel their tour again.

tix are ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS.... :(

i mean, i'm super excited for them touring with big names like Soundgarden and NiN, but that's too expensive for me.  they're supposed to be here in a few weeks too, at Red Rocks--which sucks big time, because they're a show i have to see before either i die or they disband and go their separate ways.  but the way things have been going, they're already charging like Paul McCartney prices so it's like wtf.

From their history, that's not surprising news. They'll use it to sell more records though. 'The LAST DG album!!!'...Until they announce they never really broke up and the rumor was another ploy to garner more attention.

well, now the question is: where is all that unreleased material?

i've heard numerous times that they used to make 20+ tracks per album, and then shave it down to the best 13 or so...if that's true, then that means there are ~30-35 lost DG tracks just hanging out on someone's hard drive.

plus there's all the shit they did pre-Exmilitary, which is virtually unaccounted for unless your some fucking Sacramento hipster that's hoarding even more unreleased or super rare tracks.  in fact, the only other tracks i even know about are on that Live From Death Valley tape and that very first EP which had differently labeled versions of Spread Eagle and Takyon...

but fuck man...i was just saying earlier in this post about how this is by far my favorite DG release yet, and my favorite release of this year, and it turns out to be half of their last (allegedly).  i think they're kinda shitty to their fans though, i didn't find their sentiments in that napkin-letter to be all that comforting or even appreciative of said fans.  but maybe i just love abuse, because they're one of the only artists i've actually given money to in the past several years and i don't care how they treat me when they're pumping out albums like this.  at the very least they better release those acapellas for TMS and this new shit...

I was looking forward to seeing them live in November, but otherwise, I'm not really all that bothered. I love Deaf Grapes, and they've left us with some really great material. Now they can go on with their lives and do other things.

all the vids from that album remind me of the short CG-animated films of the '80s...i've posted a few examples in the Animation thread if anyone wants to check them out.  they're really cool with how minimal and abstract they had to be due to all the technological limitations of the day, and there's a chance that DG had those in mind when they were soliciting the creation of all these vids.
