So even though these are recycled De La verses, this project was really well done. What are your guys thoughts on it? What Dilla beat is that on "Goes With The Word? It's beautiful!

Don't know why cats aren't talking about this mixtape. De La Soul did the damn thang on this banger. Proud of The Plugs for this one. Best Dilla-produced collaboration mixtape out since he passed to me.

I really like how they took old lyrics and laced em up on this.

yeah man I think it's actually fuckin' awesome that they took all these old verses and redid them for these beats. Hearing De La over that Milk Money beat (Let the King Ascend) is worth the non-existant price of admission alone. Was just discussing the pros and cons of the posthumous Dilla releases in that other thread, and to me, pairing re-recorded classic De La verses with unreleased Dilla beats on a free mixtape is the definition of a classy modern Dilla release.

Does this mean the beat for "Goes With The Word" was unreleased?

I wasn't sure if you were intentionally putting that in given the context of the post.

I've seen both spellings on production credits over the years.

Ma Dukes has dropped the 'e' on her FB page

wow. okay. So De La Soul ARE releasing a vinyl, instrumental version of this mixtape (+1 bonus beat), and are going about it in a very interesting way. In the spirit of Dilla's actual beat-tapes, apparently only 100 copies are being pressed, and the majority of them will be distributed to random record stores in a few cities (NY, LA, Chicago, ATL, Detroit, San Francisco). they're not telling which stores. a few others they're selling on Ebay and have already been bid up over $300.

check out all the details here!

Unfortunately I don't think I'll have time to go digging tomorrow so I may miss this altogether! very sad as I would LOVE to get that Marvin Jaye on vinyl...

Ahhhhh man...

Their twitter says something like 'a treat for all you vinyl collectors'. I would wholeheartedly disagree.

Yet another reason to hate RSD.

Not feeling the limited edition vinyl...just another money grab. If anything, it would have been dope Busta to have done it for Dillagence. The beats on there were much better than what's featured on this De La project. It'll be interesting to see what the bonus instrumental is though.

100 copies... there are gonna be 15 copies in 6 cities. 5 copies selling on ebay direct...the lowest is at $355, the highest is at $510, and there's three fucking days left, they're probably going to make $2500 just from the five ebayed ones!

I mean, i'd buy it if I found it and it was reasonably priced, probably gonna be like 30 bucks or something haha.

But in the end, they're not going make more than say 5 grand so I don't really begrudge them beyond the fact that it won't be available to us all.

What's the money that De la makes off of this? Nill. Think oft he prestige and intrigue tho of a Dilla beat tape on vynl.

I think its interesting. A DJ who has it could probably do a night based on this album alone.
