charlie, I am sure if you look hard enough and closely you can find something wrong with just about any emcee. Like he cant freestyle, his lyrics arenot that good, he's not a good battle emcee, his beats are weak, he has poor breath control, he has no flow, his stage show is weak, cant write good, rhymes to slow, to spacey, to much cursing etc..

so for people to say perc is repetative is no big deal.

people might knock Perce for repetative lyrics over the years, but this album on the whole is incredible lyrically... There might be some you've heard in the past but the album standing alone is unbelievable.

Gave it a thorough listen this weekend on my way to a flea market to do some diggin. Solid Album. Nothing mindblowing or groundbreaking, just good. Which even that is rare these days. Madlib did a good job with a nice variety of beats. Thats what I enjoyed the most, the variety. Kind of reminded me of the beats from Wildchild's album. Waiting for the instros......

I just cracked the seal on my cd and the first thing I realized is how the "songs written by" credit(s) are listed. It lists Madlib first and then Percee P. Did lib write more of the album than Percee and if so why? Percee has been doing this for so long that you would think he could write his own lyrics or has book after book of lyrics already written.

And for all of those that like to be super protective of ST artists/music and take any comment that is seen as "negative" to heart. This is not a criticism. I bought this album, I'll buy the next, and I already have several more ST albums in my crate(s) at my favorite store(s).

when you write a song it doesnt just mean your writing lyrics you write music too so producers are listed

unless he has written some lyrics i highly doubt that though

I understand the lingo, but why give Madlib two different types of credits in two different places for the same task? Besides what you are talking about is more like arranging, correct? Writing music is more like physically writing it out note by note on staff paper. Does lib even read music?

It's not valid to want to know who wrote the lyrics on a particular album? Why even have liner notes then? Let alone a 16 page booklet complete with lyrics.

considering dude has been doing this thing since before most of us were born, you'd think he'd write his own shit.
it's probably just something with the arrangement that madlib did...

favourite album this year so far... didn't feel it much the first few listenings but now it's rapidly growing on me :o
