I don't reside there either but I do stay pretty in tune with NPR and most major news stories. I'm not really that surprised corporate media isn't picking this up though. That would involve having to explain what's happening in Gitmo and most media outlets are doing very little reporting on the hunger strike anyway. For people to see this it has to be a viral campaign.

That Charlamagne dude is missing the point of Yeezus. Kanye may not be getting forcefed per Guantanamo procedure, but he's not any less 'real' than Mos Yasiin.

Joey Bada$$ "Summer knights" album is the only thing worth listening to this Summer thus far. Yeezus, Magna Carta Holy Grail, The Gifted and Born Sinner are incredibly boring. Zzzzzzzzz *snort* Zzzzzzzzzzz.

The only thing? What about non-rap records?

I thought this was about new music.

Well I'm always listening to classic jazz, funk, soul, and rock but new music? only hip hop right now.

Well you should think about expanding your horizons if you're so bored with new rap. There's been plenty of great records from all sorts of genres this year. I can rec you some if you'd like.

Enlighten me... hip me to some new hip hop that dropped this Summer.

Rap records? Alright. Run The Jewels is a fantastic record. El & Mike bro it up EPMD style with guests like Prince Paul & Big Boi. And it's free.
Billy Woods' Dour Candy is also pretty fantastic, produced entirely by Blockhead. Billy Woods' rhyme scheme is a bit to get used to at first but his music is definitely something to check out at least once. You can't be mad at RoboCop references.
Mr. Muthafuckin' eXquire also dropped Kismet not too long ago, and while this tape may be a bit inconsistent at some points, the tape features some great moments from eXquire. It also features some great production from Constrobuz, who may or may not post here anymore. He probably got tired of us.
Open Mike Eagle's Sir Rockabye EP may not be his best work, but its still a fun record. Mike goes #RealHipHop on "Clean It Up" but the most entertaining moment for me was "Password":
"I GOT THE PASSWORD TO YOUR NETFLIX
I'M WATCHING EVERY NARUTO"
I'm actually a big fan of Mike, make sure to check out his other releases.
On the more experimental side of the hip-hops is TAPE TWO by some scottish dudes called Young Fathers. Some creative stuff on this record. If you like this one, make sure to cop TAPE ONE as well.
Finally, mndsgn's instrumental tape breatharian is not to be slept on. mndsgn is one of the only cats in the beat scene that doesn't bore me to death/overwhelm me with pretention, so new releases from the dude are always welcome. Perfect summer vibes.

One of my all time favorite jams! Every time I hear it my mind goes back to sophomore year of high school smoking and watching this on MTv2 at my best friend's house like it was yesterday...

I was lucky enough to find this white label 12" with an acapella a long time ago. Earlier this year I pulled it out and used the line 'Making music that'll bump for a thousand years', as a chorus to one of my group's songs. When I first played it for a couple of the rappers one of them in particular was so excited to hear Gab's voice. He went on to tell me about his love of this jam and how he remembers bumping it with his friends back in high school as well.
