erm no sir.dub orginiated from reggae.from dubplates aka instrumental of riddim tracks.

to dub it means to add effects and reverb.so basically DUB=Remix

even Jimi Hendrix dubbed one of his songs.so does that mean it is reggae?no.

dub being similar to dubstep meaning it uses the dubbing technique.

dub came much later in reggae.

so reggae is reggae.a mixture of calypso, latin rhythms, jazz and african nyambinghi drumming.

like lee perry said.anything can be dub.

you just have to find it.

Sorry, but you're wrong. A dubplate does not exclusively mean Dub or Version. It is an acetate of a Special used for Soundsystem play, which existed long before Reggae itself.

And seeing as Dub is just versioning of existing Reggae tracks, then it is still Reggae. It doesn't magically become a different type of music, just because it has been versioned.

You seem to be getting confused with Dub and just the use of echo and reverb in other forms of music. This doesn't mean it is Dub, just music with added effects on it. Hindsight and retrospect are wonderful things, but they are just confusing you here.

Yer. Sorry for the lesson above, but I've been going to see Sounds and selecting for over 20 years and it pains me a bit to see the whole thing misrepresented

they called it dub because it was from dubplates.

no it does not become another type of music.

yes it is part of the evolution of reggae itself.

but to see dub versions of other types of music like house and so on..how does one explain that.

im all for dub.to me whenever dub is mentioned.i always refer to reggae anyway.so no worries.

im just hoping the kids wont get it in the wrong way.

but your all lucky because we have a top selector aka Madlib to teach the youngns about the real deal.

wheeel!

Reggae version of the Mission Impossible theme buried in there, too. . .

Too good.
