after stewing for a few days, I'm actually fairly psyched. sure, new would have been incalculably better, but a rarities LP ain't so bad at all. These are all great tracks, and I'm sure it's gonna be well worth copping.

What's strange to me is the sequencing here, providing that tracklist is right... I've listened to Astronaut EP so many damn times it's gonna be weird to hear it jumbled in the middle of these other tracks. Kinda strange they start off with Broad Factor/Seasons Change, then The Front/Youngblood, and then everything gets all shaken up. And why stop at 12 tracks, especially when some of them are "madlib" tracks rather than "quas" tracks? No Lonely Piano or Dinosaur Brain Beat, etc.?

that's a crazy question. the reason that Lord Quas posted about the test press LP was because he was hyped about it sounding so good. mastered by Cooley.

I know I shouldn't doubt you guys, but I just had to be sure.

Yeah that was kind of the reason why after immediately finding out about this I grabbed a copy of Astronaut on Discogs. Still going to pick this compilation up too, but I wanted the original on wax as well

the title pretty much sums up my feelings for this comp...
"Yessir, Whatever"

hopefully he can be so kind as to add a few unreleased tracks that he knows no one has heard before.
i mean i have heard him say in interviews that there supposedly are TWO more completed Quas albums, one with a little bit of Lord Infamous on it as well...why doesn't he release that shit???

The Madlib has stated that of the music that he has created maybe a quarter of it has been released. That's what happens when you have a prolific musician such as Otis. I'm sure most of us here would be happy to cop everything that he's ever made but he and his label have to be discerning with what gets released for consumption. Its a tight rope act balancing supply and demand. Keep the supply small enough to generate a constant demand means more $ in The Madlib's pocket at the end of the day.

didn't he say he had some dubstep tracks somewhere in the archives in an interview recently? lol, now that would be something interesting to cop...i just want to hear some dope new music from OJ Jr. in doses larger than 6-track EP's and collaborative singles with beats we've already heard before.

Yeah, some people seem to forget that Stones Throw is a business, and that businesses run on profit. Green Power (Remix), fellas.

I asked PBW about the Quas test press at a show here in Tampa last night. He said it is part of an upcoming "box set". And I asked him if it was new Quas shit and he knodded yes... New to us maybe, but not him. We'll see... here's hoping!

Stones throw has been busy releasing those 7" box sets...wouldn't be surprised if it sold out that same day.

Hope this is true instead of what I posted. While a compilation of stuff is ok I guess, some new music would actually be something to get excited about.

This can have something to do with all this, or not at all, time will tell:
Anyone going to the Peanut Butter/Sandman show in Toronto? We need more interrogators!

It might be my ocd-like nature but I feel like I have to grab two copies; one with the sticker on and one with the sticker off. Would be cool to have both

Skimmed through the track list and recognized most of them but does anyone know if any of these tracks are actually new?

Or...if it isn't too much to ask, can some provide a list of where the tracks are from? Like I know the Astronaut EP covers a few, a couple random 7"s cover a few as well
