Madlib is great but he is wasting good beats on this generic and boring fake thug named Gibbs, why are people rating him so highly?

He isn't doing anything new, his voice is not good at all and he has made some truly shitty records, works with wack rappers and producers, yet Madlib digs him...as a long time Lib and ST fan this is like a smack in my face and a giant step back for such an esteemed label.

I just don't get it, even the videos are stupid and glorify thug life and hardcore drug use.

Baffled.

How is it a smack in your face just because he's collaborating with someone he admires/digs/whatever? Madlib and ST do whatever the hell they want. If you don't like it then yes, you have every right to voice your opinion, but to say a he's wasting good beats (instros are available) and this is a step back for ST is downright offensive. Not really, but come on it's just a collaboration, it's not like he's going to be with Gibbs for the rest of his career. Take it or leave it.

..waits for GNC90 to get your back

Enough said.

Same argument with Guilty Simpson but there's no backlash against him for some reason.

co-sign

both of his videos have been ignorant as fuck (which was discussed at exhausting length when the 'thuggin' video came out) their not big or clever but very stylish and have guns, drugs and dirty women the only thing im mad about with this new video is the lack of appearence of that leather scarface jacket from the 'thuggin' video

Jesus Christ, stop sniffing glue you dullards. You are probably the kinda kids that ignore Dilla's street side and ignore his harder tracks about violence, girls and jewlery. It's not all fun and dandy and hippy go happy flower power nerd rap lyrics in the land of Stones Throw. Stones Throw has artists like Guilty Simpson, who also drops some lines/tracks about street related topics. Don't get your little flower printed undies in a bunch: Stones Throw is not turning into the next Maybach Music Group or Death Row. Stones Throw continues to put out quality music and videos as a form of entertainment. For every MadGibbs release you get something less gangster & street. I see no reasons why Stones Throw should not work with people like Gibbs or why Madlib shouldn't shoot him some beats. Stones Throw isn't your little hippy book club my little pony exlusive faggot club - this is real.

i rest my case, you glue sniffers.

also the fact that madlib isnt in this video smackin some hoes...

some people are too sensitive nowadays forealz, look at the video for mcnasty filth, lots of strippers in it... not everything has to be on a deep level or have spiritual meaning, hip hop has always been grimy, its all good as long as you keep it real.

and i know you can post your opinion about it but everytime i read some of these post i cant help but picture the poster sounding like a whining lil bitch

Gibbs' flow is ridiculous, nobody flowed like that on a Madlib beat before. He might not be a lyrical wizard, but he can rap and he does it well. If you want nerd rap, listen to Aesop Rock or Doom. Gibbs does his thing on the mic and his mixtapes like midwest...., miseducation of freddie gibbs, Str8 Killa etc are all good. What Gibbs did with those Madlib beats is crazy - it sounds fantastic. I'm hyped about the full project! It's about time someone bodies a full Madlib project with aggressive and hard raps.

Not being on a rapper's nuts is being a "faggit"? lol
It has always been clear that Madlib is into that ghetto gangster stuff, he's done a billion remixes with that kinda material
I don't understand how not digging Gibbs means you can't appreciate that vibe/sound.

Yeah well...you have a point there lol.

Anyway, i wish madlib would record a new album with Dudley. The album he did with Georgia Anne Muldrow was hot, but I need another Madlib & Declaime album

does anyone else find the samples used on the ep interesting? i mean, if you know anything about digging lib pretty much uses some real common dollar bin samples for the whole ep. idk if anyone cares but i thought it was interesting he decided to re-visit those records and see what he could do.

I wish sampling had no legal issues.

Obvious reasons.

I could only imagine this if she did coke off the bike seat wearing fishnets and acid wash denim.

I wonder why Seeds never took this long?
