Damn, I have that LP too, I love using the bass line from Tighten Up. I'll listen to it when I get home to a PC with speakers.

track 8 and track 11 are the standouts. For the majority of the tracks it feels like when your about to get into the soul (melody) it gets inetrrupted or chopped up too much... i'm thinking prefuse 73 style here...

8 and 11 seem to be more melodic or sound a little different to me... some of your beats are reminiscent of dilla's work.. nothing wrong with dilla's style... just make your style more subtle (original). nothing wrong with being influenced.

i don't know if this was an excerise or if this is something u might be planning to shop around...

needless to say - with all that i said your work still sounds better than the majority of wanna-be beatmakers - add me please - bullshit on myspace... so in laymen terms your heading in the right direction...

this shit doesn't happen overnight!

thanks for that. everybody is telling me about prefuse 73. never heard anything from them. i'm surprised though that 11 is a standout.

hey - it's a matter of taste.... i'd really like to see a 3minute version of track 8... it has a lot of potential.

prefuse is waaayy overhyped.. his side project savath and savalas on warp records was beautiful

incidentally this video kinda syncs up with track 11 if you start them at about the same time.......and smoke some weed too. and I agree about the chopping sequencing. maybe a little over used.so is every sound on these songs from the tighten up record?
