This one up to your lofty standards?

Come on.

I think I was actually just drawn to it subconsciously. Now I realise that's because I recognize it from an unreleased beat Madlib played on BBC Radio 1 (Worldwide/Invazion Of Radio One).

some folk jumping the gun abit....

i better write it for the sake of new people..........y'know??

RULES:

DONT POST YOUR BEAT TILL FRIDAY

USE WHATEVER DRUMS YOU LIKE

SCRATCHES/SYNTH ARE OK

the beat battles last a week, sunday till friday.....give everyone else a chance like

I personally think people should use myspace/virb or whatever for uploading there entrys.....takes just as long to upload a file to mediafire as it does to make a myspace page (well almost)

yep drella, i remember the mix on peterson, madlib played some tidy unreleased beats that night, was a good mix, still got it on the computer i think.

Yes, or at least use a filesharing site that has a streaming player that works, so you don't have to download the track.

Any chance you want to find and share that mix?

Pretty simple rules each week...

Battles start on Sunday...the sample track picked by the winner of the previous week's battle.

Take that track and chop it, flip it, slice it, filter it, etc to make your beat.

Drums are wide-open (use whatever drum samples ya want)

Synths are limited (in other words...don't make a synth track with a stab here and there from the sample track)

Vocals & scratches are fine, but as an accent to the beat only...unless the person posting the samples says otherwise.

Once you're done with your beat, hold on to it until Friday...then upload it to your Myspace or Soundclick page.

Post a link to your page here in the thread so folks can check it out.

Saturday morning we'll start a new thread for voting.

Winner posts the next week's sample track.

If ya got questions though, feel free to ask.

Peace.

Man, i'm having no kind of luck!

I've been stuck making "Dark" type of tracks and I can't seem to pull anything out of the sample and make it work

I've tried some other stuff too, but i'm really not feeling it

I THINK I'M RUSHING MYSELF, BUT I'M POSITIVE I'LL COME WITH SOMETHING.

How's everyone elses coming along if your not already finished!?

I'm going okay with it. I've been being lazy though, so I haven't gone very far with it. I've got a basic idea in my head of what I'm gonna do. Got no idea for a chorus though. I was gonna just take the whole chorus from the song and use that, but it doesn't really fit with the feel of the beat I've got at the moment (plus the fact that I did chop it up and it's slightly faster than the verses, so I'd have to time stretch each chop . . . cba).

I finished mine today...have the whole week off work because of the holiday, so I got to spend some actual time on my stuff this week. Ended up doing a track using the "San Diego" parts (and others) since I'm a San Diego native. I'll probably be able to slang it to some San Diego area emcee at some point. Yay!

EDIT: Monnokkel...I'm really diggin some of your beats...head-noddin' stuff for sure. Cant wait to see what you come up with!
