      STMB   01/22/2017

Sorry for the outage. The board went down for repairs on January 5th, and we didn't expect to be out for a full 16 days.  STMB is using a default skin, as you can see, and that will probably be the case for a few weeks.  Meanwhile, the board is working better than it ever has before.

SAMPLE THIS!

77 posts in this topic

Let's post songs that we've all wanted to sample, but just never got around to it or couldn't come up with something for it....

I think this thread would be a good daily excercise for those who are either finished with the weekly battle or for those who are just not interested in competing for the week, but would still like to something to work with on a daily basis....

The file can be a simple youtube video link that can be converted to mp3 via one of the hundreds of file conversion sites online....

The major point is to post something you've either had a hard time with or just never got around to it...

I'll start with this...

Gotta love that Grant Green... you'll def have some fun with that one... I might have to start really looking for more of his stuff...I've only got his first album on wax and that's about it.... lucky buy.

That Beaver Krause stuff is something else..... I def heard a few little things i'd like to grab out of there....just got to the 2:11 mark...wooo.

ABOUT THE TOPIC:

I don't mind the posting of the tracks you made, but if should def be something that was done with one of the samples someone else had posted.... in that case you'd be quoting the original, posting your beat and leaving behind another sample.... it's more like a trade off lol

I guess Crate Resources beats can go here? I made two "beats" put them back to back, sorry I'm high.

actually, no. that's still considered "Hype"...if you feel like you want to divulge some shit you've already flipped, that's up to you. if you have certain songs you want to flip but haven't yet, then again go ahead and post. but we're pretty strict here about unsolicited self-promotion, shameless or not.

If I had time to make beats these days, I would sample this. I actually was going to start this identical themed thread based off of this clip!!!! Good looking LeftFoot.

I would chop it. Find a new melody.if the people sound tight they stay. If not, I would just filter them out.

Real powerful bass sound tho.

You're not lying!.... I don't think anybody would have used that sample.

looks like the pride has got those coveted axelrod credits, nice finds orchid, some heavy shit there

I only bought it because it was Axelrod in his prime but when I got it home I was very pleased. Can't find a ton of info on it but from what I've learned it's Earl Palmer on the drums, Carol Kaye on the bass, and David's brother with the vocals. Kind of a neat project but I always have to hear that break a few times before moving on to the next track. I've only seen one before (the one I bought), I think it's pretty rare

I like to get funky.

There is no reason shit that sounds like the crusty, grimey and warm, NY sound of the 90s still can't exist on a massive scale. Producers just need to be creative.

Techniques? Old cats?

Whatever, technology is there. Chop like chop suey for better possibilities of making an original pice with the sound techniques of warm, crusty analog recordings.

Simple yo.

Both just came up in my Facebook feed.

That first sample you posted, I think Busta Rhymes should do something with it. FLiP MODE! Is the Squad. (Apparently)

Someone should flip Feeling Good by Michael Buble. That song is so dope and comes with an intro that's perfect for a hip hop track.

not trying to offend dude, but there is something really funny about a mormon teenager interested in beatmaking/hip hop culture suggesting a michael buble song as potential sample material

Maybe he is Bro King, in a new, elevated form?
