      STMB   01/22/2017

Sorry for the outage. The board went down for repairs on January 5th, and we didn't expect to be out for a full 16 days.  STMB is using a default skin, as you can see, and that will probably be the case for a few weeks.  Meanwhile, the board is working better than it ever has before.

whats the problem ?

Jay - Z is the problem dude, he's a pop star, there's no place for a "Sell yourself" lifestyle in Hiphop, go and listen to the track Tom Ford, off his new pop album, I thought Kanye was bad but, rhyming about a Label that others can't afford, Please!! He needs to take a leaf out of Immortal techniques book and go build an orphanage or 100. So off the back of him being shallow, and Pt 3 may be a classic, it all becomes irrelevant, all due to the fact he is a Nob that has completely lost touch with life, is he street ? no he's corporate office. He has nothing to say and needs to put the mike down, he's the Hulk Hogan or Rik flair of rap, can't see he's well and truely past it.

Did you not listen to anything I said, " most of us will agree his new stuff sucks". And I never said that pt 3 was good. I though I would mention it because pt 1 and 2 were classics

Can't deny it ... the production on DP3 alone is nothing short of mindblowing.

Young GURU did the beat. It's funny b/c DP3, albeit a slightly different version, has been floating around the internet for close to 5 years and then Just Blaze released the official version a couple of days ago. I don't remember what inspired me to play the track at the time, but last September I tweeted GURU about the track, asking what project it was intended for and what the backstory was on the track - - this was his response: "there really is no story. It was going to be on a mixtape that we never put out." I saw a report somewhere saying that DP3 was supposed to be on either The Blueprint 3 or The Black Album, I don't remember exactly what was said but GURU sort of indirectly dispelled that.

As for the "Hip-Hip police" out there - and no, this isn't directed at anyone in particular b/c I do understand all sides of the discussion, but try to be a little more open-minded. Personally, after playing it a handful of times, I don't like Jay-Z's latest project much but there are some good verses, beats, and tracks on there. Open-mindedness is what this culture is all about

Peace

Sonically I can't imagine or "hear" DP3 on any of Jay-Z's recent/current albums. Timbaland, Pharrell, and Swizz seem to be his go-to producers as of late. Now when he was open to a wider range of production styles (back during the era when he used to open the album with a song over a Preemo beat) I can imagine this joint fitting right in with the likes of Just Blaze, early Kanye West, Ski, Knowbody, and Pete Rock.

Dude, your right, I didn't listen, but I did read what you said, don't get so defensive Holmes or take it personally, read it as in a comedy piece, and your probably understand the way I put things over, I have no issue with you, and the problem for me is artists like Jay- Z getting a mention full stop when they all portray Hiphop as Money importance, and owning material wealth, unfortunately kids copy their idols and think they are right, and hang on to everyword they say, as if it's their own bible. As for the Hiphop police, and close mindedness, don't think anyone coming to the Stonesthrow forum is close minded, none of us would be here or communicate, we would all be fighting on UGHH, If this conversation was in a pub, with a pint, would probably go down a lot lot different, because you would hear how I'm saying it, and probably agree, so instead of some white chump, from the U.K, trying to explain, what is going wrong with a whole culture, just check this video, it speaks volumes,

I'll check it out. I know where you're coming from, I hate mainstream hip hop as well :)
