Fantastic Vol.1 and vol.2 are probably two of my favorite albums

I was wondering what J dilla would have used on these albums equipment wise?

Also what does everyone think about SV?

Scratch: What equipment did you start with?

J. Dilla: I started with the SP-12 then moved to the SP-1200. Then shortly after that the MPC 60, then [MPC60 mkII), then the MPC3000, and I've been on the MPC3000 ever since then. I've tried other samplers but the 3000 is the best for me for what I like do.

Scratch magazine, 2006

^Akai S950 was also one of the first samplers he used. From those two pictures you can spot the 1200 for sure and looks like he did already have an MPC3000 during SV (personally I would've guessed MPC60, but what do I know...). Like said, he had a lot of equipment, but I guess it's those two if you really want to narrow it down.

All in all I think he mixed things together from different samplers (duh). Like HERE Pharcyde's Slimkid3 mentions Dilla using the 1200 and then here

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPoODpsEDPo

Dilla kind of talks about filtering Runnin with the S950 (or that's how i understood it...).

And then there's the topic about mixing....

Pharcyde .. I heard in my early teens on Yo Raps.. Loved them straight away.. make some references to "she keeps on passing me by"

in this song I wrote a couple of years ago if someones interested

Slum Village I only got to know a couple of years back.. if they were on Yo in the early to mid nineties I musta mssed them..

But they are awesome!... love the beats of course!...

Also only found out much later that many a beat I love from back then were produced by Jay Dee...

Went to a Slum Village, Pharcyde, Guilty Simpson, Illa J, F&D concert last Saturday in "Bird" in Rotterdam, The Netherlands

Dope!
