      STMB   01/22/2017

Sorry for the outage. The board went down for repairs on January 5th, and we didn't expect to be out for a full 16 days.  STMB is using a default skin, as you can see, and that will probably be the case for a few weeks.  Meanwhile, the board is working better than it ever has before.

#2 I enjoy the james Blake sample whats all the hubub about?

The reason I said we should upload a 2nd sample is the fact that the James Blake 'mind' sample - is already an amazing beat.

@Mortimer: Don't have a sound card.

As for the sample I fux wit it, a sample is a sample no matter what it is.

Well too late now. For what it's worth, I'm fretting because of the challenge to get riff's out of that track (not the standard fare [ for me at least ] ) But it should be a fun challenge.

St. Rock also won last week, so it makes sense to defer back to him.

best, bwl

Still no sample, this is an outrage. I must start chopping, will it be samples or heads. Just clowning, but really where is this sample IRMUSIC?

Ir left it up to str@k who dropped A james Blake beat as the sample , Heavy approved -- Because the James Blake is already a beat ( an awesome beat ) i suggested we use 2 samples. Heavy asked what samples I had and could suggest to them, and without hesitation I loaded Carlos Alomar's Dream Generator. That's all I know.

Download the SAMPLE James Blake's Mind

Download the ADDITIONAL SAMPLE Carlos Almomar's Dream Generator

Page 2  ??

@STROK I just came on to upload something so glad you've done it, thanks.

I havent listened to the sample but fuck it its up deal with.

Done.

Elvis you on crack or what? Why message me if you were going to ignore what I said lol. I asked if you had a sample, you replied and gave me the choice of two. I squashed it and said it was too late as folks had already started but you did it anyway. haha so why involve me in that conversation with yourself?

I just wanna make beats homie don't complicate my life, its too short as it is.

Big up One Tone for loading the first beat 2 hours ago and getting at it mad quick.

uhm... what's the problem about the first sample.... I have already a whole beat with it... and sorry to say - I don't like i mind that much. So I was glad to bring up my own version.... I try to put in the second one but I am not that excited about it...

anyway - why should't sampling a beat be wrong? we had techno in here--- why not touch james blake?

so watch out in this round I'll be doing smth else... try out new stuff!

peace

Word Up People, digging the two samples this week, I wasn't sure at first using something that was Contemporary and modern. But after a listen and some chops I thought yeah this could work to build up the wall of sounds.

Some drums some chops and some Bass no other synths just a filter or two on the samples. EQ's and Compressor on the drums and output.

In regards to what we use question. MPC wise, Wish I had one....I make my beats by using my MPD32 hooked up to logic 8 and use Battery for my drums and the EXS 24 Sampler for my Chops.

Peace.

I only say that cuz with midi a ASIO soundcard is pretty much needed. If you notice sound delay from striking the key to the sound being played then you need one for sure. You can get rid of this delay and actually play the keyboard properly.

a Creative extreme audio soundcard is only like 50 bucks, you just gotta make sure it's compatible with your computer. MAC is different Im only talking PC's.

Thanks for the replies on the mpc question interesting to see what people are using. I have some old outboard gear but its been superseded by the quality of modern software. All my sequencing is in the computer so thinking of getting back into the mp if only just to look at a smaller screen.
