Stones Throw Beefs?

26 posts in this topic

1. I heard that Dilla takes some shots at House Shoes on strapped and there was beef involved in this record. can someone get clarification with evidence or at least explain this for me? Being a Dilla head and having this brought to me so recently for one of my favorite Jaylib tracks is quite intriguing.

Here's the guilty interview I read where this was first brought to my attention.

On a more serious note – Strapped. …there’s definitely a little House Shoes jab in there. I know the story, which I’m not going to divulge here (or anywhere, if you know, you know, if you don’t, you probably don’t need to know anyway), but did you know what you were getting into with that?

Well, what happened was – like I told you at first, Shoes was the person that initially called me and told me that Dilla wanted to work so, even to this day, I’m definitely, definitely grateful for that. When we did Strapped, he had the beat, and I went through there and I laid the verse.

Can someone shed light on what they're talking about?

2. Can we get some clear and serious answers about what the beef is/was between Dudley Perkins/Declaime and Stones Throw?

On a related note Declaime has a song on MMS #11 (LMD - Real Talk) where they talk about label and music bullshit. this track makes me wonder if ST and Dudley have squashed their beef or if Dudley is talking about ST on the record?

PS: is LMD a knew group consisting of LMNO, Medaphoar, & Declaime?

sound off on your thoughts for these issues presented.

I'm way too good at reading too much into these things but I'll take a crack at it. On Strapped Dilla goes "you don't need them house shoes" ... "when you bounce through you get no service / on some 'no shoes, no shirt shit'"

If you remember that stussy dilla video series, I believe House Shoes mentioned something about their falling out at one point.

As for the dudley perkins scenario, the man posted his piece here himself... though I doubt that anyone remembers his take exactly or if those posts still even exist. Plus the track he's on, he has a line there about trying to just move forward and 'not wasting no more ammunition'. I got the feeling that he's done with that 'beef'.

And I think you're right about LMD. Or else Leave My Name Out changed his name to Lettuce Mincemeat Dumplings.

Not that this has anything to do with all the declaime stuff. But anyone ever noticed that line @ 1:28? "Fuck a Loopdigga in my city man just stay home". I have no clue why he would say that lol, maybe he was jealous of madlib's succes?

I read on okp that House Shoes was pissed off at Dilla for holding some of his records hostage or some sh!t

and I think you can still find Declaime's rants on the board just google "dloc site:stonesthrow.com/messageboard"

edit: looks like his dloc account was deleted

there are just a couple random posts

but basically he wasn't happy with ST because of promotion and royalties

that's why he bounced.....and took GAM with him in the process

LMD is a new group. They had another song on Bang Ya Head III Pt. 2. I think 'Real Talk' is just about the industry in general, 'I don't do rap. Rap do me for the G's' - MED.

But if you listen 'Shine On' and 'Whatchallknowaboutthis' from SomeOthaShip Connect Declaime and Roc C are most definitely talking about ST.

Im fairly certain dudley wasnt satisfied with the money he was making on s.t. But also I think the people at stones throw had to be getting tired of his smugness and delusional self righteousness.
