      STMB   01/22/2017

Sorry for the outage. The board went down for repairs on January 5th, and we didn't expect to be out for a full 16 days.  STMB is using a default skin, as you can see, and that will probably be the case for a few weeks.  Meanwhile, the board is working better than it ever has before.

Nice work! Not too many tracks left.

This one keeps nagging at me to find it:

24. {Upsetters?}

...it sounds more like The Aggrovators or The Revolutionaries. I'm back on the case, gotta dig deep to solve this one.

I agree with that assessment. But then theres the whole UUUUHHHHH-thing. Isn't that classic Lee Perry?

sounds more like a sample of Dillinger's "joyful noise" from the beginning of "Rizla Skank". don't think it has something to do with Lee Perry/Upsetters

I might have found that "brush yo teeth, get a fresh" dancehall track that falls right after #43. Dub Specialist - Swing Easy. I won't add it to the list until I get confirmation.

I believe it's Lovindeer - Every Posse Get Fresh, but its not currently on youtube. A quick google search provided no results so if anyone can track down an mp3 and listen to it so we can lock this one in would be great!

Here's the album it's on:

http://www.discogs.com/Lovindeer-Am-I-Hurting-You-Honey/release/2471269

Here's another cut from that album that sounds strikingly similar:

I can't help with the brush yo teeth tune but since this has been bumped

i think number 11 in the list is Derrick Harriott - Smile Orange Reggae from this album: http://www.discogs.com/Derrick-Harriott-More-Scrubbing-The-Dub/master/479112

Can't check it as youtube doesn't work on my rubbish internet

at the end of 11 he also plays the intro to The Crystalites - Smile Orange Reggae

also number 49 i don't think is Jah Woosh - I'm Alright, it's the same riddim track but it sounds more like Keith Hudson on vocals, can't find audio of this version but he's done a few versions of it called Melody Maker

I agree that Jah Woosh version is different than what's in the mix, not sure about the Derrick Harriot though...

mad props for U Brown - Bus Dem Shut '81 Style!

Derrick Harriott - Smile Orange Reggae doesn't sound like number 11 from the mix. I only recognized a small portion of The Crystalites' version that probably appears in the mix. It's kind of obscure.

And I think number 49 is neither Jah Woosh nor Melody Maker, at least according to what I found on youtube

yea ok i guess it's not - as i said i wasn't able to properly check it

and yea it is only the first few seconds of The Crystallites version that gets played at the very end of 11

second those props for the U Brown!

Definitely sounds like Keith Hudson vocals on 49, if you listen to some of his other stuff i'm sure you'll agree

Hey guys! This is my first post but I've been lurking the forums and bumping Stones Throw for years. Now that summer has come around I've been listening to this mix religiously again.

I think that for the beginning of the first track there is basically a Joe Gibbs Majestic Dub mega-mix. I think he uses Majestic Dub, Edward the Eight, and International Treaty. Seems like the last one could be the [???} on the track list here. Here is a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DthiBvvY8FM

Thanks for everyones help in getting a track list together for this!

I just got confirmation that I was barking up the wrong tree with that Lovindeer, kills me because I thought for sure that was it. Anyways nice find on the Keith Hudson. @Sbject#3 I think track 2. {???} is referring to the outer space sounds in between the two Gibbs dubs.

Tough call. They're both really good. I feel like Blunted has a more cohesive flow to it with tracks mainly from the 70's, whereas 420 Chalice is all over the place but in a good way. 420 is also a deeper mix, introduced me to a lot of great stuff.

I like to listen to Blunted at the beach or lounging in my back yard, and 420 Chalice for bumping in the ride.

Ok, so irie folks at a reggae forum blessed me with a good hint on number 24 from the tracklist.

After some research I believe it's the version of The Black Survivors' "Come Away Jah Jah Jah Jah Children" produced by Jack Ruby aka Lawrence Lindo.

Version begins at 3:27 (though it sounds rather slow comparing to madlib's enriched dynamics sound). Anyone confirms?

edit. I'm asking to confirm because it could also be version of the same name by

(begins at 3:28) or

I gotta bump this because it helped me a lot, huge thanks for this tracklist!!! One of the few tracks that hasn't been identified yet and which really sparks my interest is number 48 (the last one on the 'How Do I Get A Prescription?', 8. track), does anyone have any clue?? I don't know where to start from with the digging.

Track 8 @ 10:10???!?!?! I doubt it's a Burning Spear track, went through a myriad of his songs and didn't find anything, tried to google up what I managed to understand from the lyrics but to no avail...any help would be appreciated, the track is really on fire.

FINALLY!!!! The good people over at Roots Archives helped me with number 48. It's Anthony Doeman - Read Up Your Bible from his album 'Natty Result'. Check out the sleeve of the LP: http://www.flickr.co...F-7wWqd2-exFCQK

Deep album.

Actually I uploaded the excerpt from MMS on YouTube. I've found the song online, I'll hook you up with the link if you wish.

Now this leaves us with 3 tracks we're clueless about (ain't counting number 24 and 'Brush Your Teeth, Get A Fresh' which have been hinted in the topic).

Oh just for the record, this song is used at one part of the mix (pretty short though, only the intro if I'm not mistaken):

Hook it up! Much love, I appreciate it.

I think track 2 is a mistake, it literally goes straight from the short clip of Majestic Dub right into Edward the Eight. There's nothing in between, so we can shave that one off the list.

Even though track 24 has the Upsetters listed, I swear it's the Aggrovators. Especially the drums.

i still haven't really gotten into this MMS for some reason...i remember listening to it in 2010 back when i was on vacation in Hawaii, but at that time i was still getting a grasp on who Madlib even was so i didn't really retain anything he played.

i should give this mix another chance though, it seems like everyone else loves it.

That's right! I've found another tracklist on the internet and it had Edward the Eight listed right after Majestic Dub.

Check out your messages.

I bump this and Blunted in the Bomb Shelter ALL THE TIME (especially when I'm high, I love the feeling when the deep bass massages my ear drums)!!

I spent the last 2 days listening to snippets of hundreds of dub tracks and came up with nada. I think I'm throwing in the towel for now.

Here's my final assessment of the remaining mystery tracks:

11. {Dub Track}??? - sounds like Sly & Robbie from around 1979/1980

24. {Upsetters?} - has to be The Aggrovators possibly with King Tubby and/or Tommy McCook

35. {Skatalites?} - this sounds like early King Tubby

44. {Brush yo teeth, get a fresh} - late 80's dancehall track, could be part of the Hol A Fresh riddim

Good luck!
