      STMB   01/22/2017

Sorry for the outage. The board went down for repairs on January 5th, and we didn't expect to be out for a full 16 days.  STMB is using a default skin, as you can see, and that will probably be the case for a few weeks.  Meanwhile, the board is working better than it ever has before.

I feel bad for the generations who didn't grow up watching Mr. Rogers, no wonder kids are all fucked up now.

Never watched it mang. Well, I did a few times, but I never really liked it. I don't think I ever liked any kids show, where an adult was leading the ceremonies. Only kids shows I liked were cartoons.

Missed out on a lot of cool guests and trips he took to see where people work and stuff (def my favorite parts of that show). Also lots of great jazz music throughout which I always liked

This thread got me playing a bunch of Bruce Haack stuff tonight, Blow Job is awesome

Good work GC90. I do not want to get into how great everything you mentioned was--I was glad that you covered it in detail. Keep doing what you do.

Yeah man. Props to ST for putting out some of his stuff, I probably wouldn't have heard about otherwise. I definitely need to check out the documentary mentioned in OP.

that Mr Rogers shit was pretty damn crazy, the music side of it

but the whole thing had a weird sort of 'Pedo Island' vibe to it as well

Unlike Mr. Haack's weird appearance and that goofy broad's very weird robotic demeanor in such weir aerobic gear--Mr. Rogers was as smooth as they come. A good man who really cared about the children.

Sucks society thinks any interaction with kids has this connotation. Before the whole stranger danger thing it seemed a lot more acceptable to help children without feeling like a freak.

This basically says it all.

Thanks GC90.

"Last month a 13 yr old boy abducted an 8 yr old girl, and when asked why, he said he learned about it on tv 'something different to try, life's cheap, what does it matter?' Well life is not cheap." TV Hall of Fame Speech.

He taught us that patience was so very important. He got out of the game right before the internet. Smart move.

He spoke normally and dressed plainly. People are so confused now that they believe what he wore was high fashion or that is what the retail chains hold out as in style.

He is highly ridiculed on any youtube video comment section or just about anywhere. Sometimes reality is more real than sarcasm.

Peace Gods. Time for a revolution, really.

My biggest problem with entertainment really is that most people that I want to collab with are dead. The world is doing its best to extinguish good, talented people with a message.

I know what you mean and I fully acknowledge that I'm being a hater. Forgiveness. My conditioning has been conditioned.

I don't really know Mr Rogers having not grown up in the US, I'm sure he's actually a pretty solid dude. The similarity with Jimmy Saville is pretty strong tho. A few of my english friends used to not let anyone say anything bad about him either.

I think the thing that irked me about that vid was mostly the two grown ups talking and then they were like 'ok send in the children' and then that metallic she-demon thing brings them in like they're about to be apocalypto'ed.

listened to a marc maron interview with Michael Keaton not too long ago where Keaton talks about working on the set of Mr. Rogers as a crew member before he started acting. Apparently everyone but Mr. Rogers himself was constantly stoned, and Mr. Rogers is exactly as nice and caring and thoughtful in reality as he is on the show. No fronting necessary. I too wish kids could hang with shit like Mr. Rogers Neighborhood these days, but there aren't enough explosions. Shit will teach you some valuable if cheesy lessons on being a good person.

yeah D money was on point, ive just done some research on children in the entertainment industry n stuff like that n listened to their stories and it fucked me up, and then the whole catholic church shit i looked at all the documentaries on how its all swept under the rug and the process of how its a whole system where they pass kids aruound, them jimmy saville... so i can be overboard at times forgive me if mr rogers was someone special to u all, but i still wouldnt let geech jr around him!! lol

Haha! Nah, Fred Rogers was a genuine dude. He was against bombarding kids with commercialism and never took any endorsements from corporations, his whole career. I'll admit those puppets were kinda creepy, though. Check out the story when he spoke to the Supreme Court when Disney and Universal filed a lawsuit to stop the sell of the Betamax (1st VCR).
